New Necromanda player, have only played 3 skirmish games.

Going to be playing a ash waste campaign starting saturday and need feedback on my list asap.

Orlock gang 1000 starting points

https:__yaktribe.games_underhive_gang_ash_waste_local_501st.318712_

for my vehicle I have a Rockgrinder with a orlock driver. 145 + 35
It has the ram 30 , Mining laser 125 , Emergency breaks 10, Smoke Launcher20 , Easy Turnover 5 Ablative Armor 15 and Redundant drive 15.
is it a good starting list? am i ready for the Wastes?

You may need to redo the link. Also with ash wastes having a couple of smaller vehicles with big guns can be more dangerous. At outset a ridgerunner or med vehicle with transport bed and mining laser, and a quad with a heavy bolter is a really good base as you can use more than the 400 of your 1400creds to buy vehicles. I find around 5-600creds what I normally spend.
Orlock are also lucky in that your driver's have gang fighter so you don't have to take as many tax models to balance the gang out.

If you are just going the rockgrinder, engine shell, crash cage and the redundant drive will be your best choices (I see you have one, can't remember if Goliath can start with both the other two or just the engine shell?).
The mining laser will need a gang member to fire it as well, so you may want to add some armour plates behind the gun as it leaves the user quite open to being shot. If you are yet to build it use the build option that gives the sunken transport bed so you can get cover for second passenger.

Ps here is a gang I did to demo the models from the ash wastes box at my local GW, its built with the idea of using the tactic that gives you 3 free juves with sawn offs. Apart from the one sawn off it just uses the bits from the box. What do you have to play with models wise as such?

You are on the low end of body count with this.
Two big questions are; Who are you planning on riding the Goliath as gunner and have you built the model for the Goliath yet?
What is your basic plan with the gang and the way you want to play?

The goliath does have a crew operated hardpoint so a gunner model isn't necessary, however this is the rail where the stubber is mounted so some conversion work would be needed to make it wysiwig.

Aye all the good weapons are meant to be passenger operated, I have to say a champ with nowt but knife and stub makes a great gunner as they have better bs and can group activate the vehicle so you can move etc and still aim with the gun.

I didn't know that, my colleges and I dead the rules as if the drive operated all vehicle weapons.
i guess it would then be my leader as he only has long range weapons anyways

On the ridgerunner the gun mounted on the back is passenger operated (my leaders favourite mount) and the stubbers are crew operated.
The Rockgrinders main gun on the right is passenger operated and has a different arc to the left weapon which is crew operated.
When you make a custom vehicle you can nominate who uses the hard point.
Bear in mind crew operated weapons will be restricted to only one used with a half move and if you have multiple weapons you will have to sacrifice movement to shoot them all.

Just because that's how it is on the model doesn't stop you putting a mining laser on either the ridgerunner or the goliaths crew operated hardpoints with some conversion work.
I am in the process of magnetising a ridgerunner with tl stubber, mining laser and Missile options for both hardpoints

Magnets are the way with vehicle weapons, although the Rockgrinders Big gun can be awkward to make swappable.
Also what are you using for the hull mounted missile launcher?

I have a few space marine hunter killers, I took the sensor box off the side and it went on sideways pretty cleanly. The middle of the hunter killer is flat and it made it a lot easier

Nice idea! I was lazy and added 2nd magnet on the point where the smoke launcher is mounted for crew missile launcher, but it can be confusing for opponents as it's next to the passenger as well rather than by the windshield.

On the gang, thats a very expensive arms master! Nearly half your creds on a single model is going to put a huge target on his head.

Carapace armour is super expensive and not the best use of creds at gang creation, mesh is fine with an undersuit if you absolutely must.

I'm also not sure on the full servo harness for him, that's again a lot of creds going into a single model.

Creds saved could usefully go into some gangers with boltguns to bolster your firing line, you have a lot of melee models for an Orlock gang, id be investing in some more bodies to force the enemy to keep their heads down.

You've also started with a hanger-on, unless the rules have changed for Ash wastes you can't have a hanger on at gang creation

by the time you have read my list I have had played my first 2 games. (Sept.10) So I have upgraded my list

I won both, although the second was through negotiation and loss the credits for that match.

Im going up against a Van Seer gang in my next match and the guy running it is ok with us doing the post game stuff as long as we update it on here 24 hours before the next match. So I have time to implement your advice.
