This will be my basic Necromunda hobby thread in anticipation of all the planned for progress to come. Despite years of buying and building I'm still learning to actually finish a model all the way through to painting. I'll save playing for post shelter in place and post learning the rules better. If I can establish enough of a set of completed hobby projects then maybe I'll be able to expand to dedicated threads for terrain or specific gangs in the future.

I did manage to paint some models for Necromunda in 2020 while starting work on many more.

My hobby plans for the first portion of 2021 are to make a starting gang list and models for a Mechanicus counts as Van Saar gang along with building some terrain and painting some civilians for the underhive. So far my only hobbying post Christmas has been working on converting the Chaos Blitz Bowl team into Goliath gangers and a Khorne Slaughterborn into a Goliath stimmer.

I think I figured out how to insert images into this thread. Please let me know if there's a thread I should read that goes into more detail on the rules/process for including pictures in a thread. Thanks.

If you've got pictured uploaded to a gallery here, then you can insert them into your posts by clicking on the little camera icon (gallery embed).

Thanks. I got one picture uploaded to a gallery but then couldn’t figure out how to add more pictures To the same gallery. Ended up using insert image using the picture icon.

Navigate into your album, then click 'add media' and it should add them to the same album.

Thanks. I give that a try next time I get onto the home office Mac. Time to do a bit of hobbying.

A start on the first four of seven starting models for the Mechanicus counts as Van Saar gang using the Genghis Cohen Serious Business starting list over on Goonhammer. Figure I should start with what seems to me like a straight forward list with room to grow even though this will most likely end up being a modeling project versus my first step into actual playing post plague.

Elf bits work well for Ad Mech. I did some a bit like that, but using dark elf legs.

I think I can declare my first three underhive citizens complete:

Mann Kleevage is a minor hive nobel with enough cunning and resources to have lived sixty odd years. As quiet as his beloved wife is loud it is often debated whether he is forced to live in her social shadow or prefers it there. Alotta Kleevage is the wife of Mann and a devoted patron of the arts. She is constantly humming under her breath and is known to break out into song at a moments notice. Her “gift of a song” is often the condition of a donation or closing a deal. Her ripperjack headdress was the height of fashion many cycles ago. Mills is a trusted advisor to the pair and a near constant presence in the lives of the Manns. Little is known of the advisor’s history beyond a suspected stint in the lesser known Necromunda 7th Regiment, the assumption of a Ministorum background from his current dress style and a morbid curiosity about what he carries in the various bags and pouches about his person.

Next up on the citizen side will be a trio of maintenance workers, a prophet street preacher and her bodyguard.

I also managed a bit of progress on the core seven models for the Mechanicus Van Saar gang. Five have been primed with conversion work done on the neotek and a cyberarachnid. I think the paint scheme will be grey cloth and black armor with splashes of color from lenses and the different special weapons. A just placed bits order will hopefully supply a scaled down grav gun for the seventh model.

"Clean up clean up everybody clean up..." Local atmospheric reports indicate a steady increase in spousal heavy sighs as construction projects complicate local foot traffic in the hab block.

X'agg gazed around the space and hoped that Print shop #12 would last longer than ten and eleven did. His wasn't the only profession that could measure success in terms of blowback and revenge sought. Nevermind, as long as he had a stylus and a datapad he'd always be one of the most dangerous men in the dome.

Finished converting the last of my Mechanicus counts as Van Saar starting gang. Swapped out the arc rifle for a space marine combi-gravgun bit to get a decent looking Mechanicus gravgun.

Started painting some of the Van Saar with Celestra Grey for cloth, Black Templars contrast paint for the armor and Leadbelcher for cybernetics. Early days but I think the scheme will work.

Also made some painting progress on the next set of underhive civilians and an Escher apprentice clan chymist model while getting my counts as Khimerix painted.

No contest progress beyond "...big plans mumble mumble..." but if I can make my hobby procrastination be other hobby work then I might still get there in the end.

Another week of hobbying done and I’ve managed a decent bit of progress. The next set of civilians are done with the three maintenance crew coming from Statuesque Miniatures and the street prophet and bodyguard both being Hasslefree Miniatures. Probably the first time ever that I bought models and had them painted by the end of the next month. Still working out names and brief bios for them.

More paint on the apprentice clan chymist and the beginnings of color applied to a female Inquisitor. I hope to finish painting the chymist by Sunday evening to give me ten models completed for the month. The Inquisitor was “converted” when the Sigmarines were just becoming a thing and the backstory I imagine for her is that she’s an Escher youth captured by Goliath gangers who served as a test subject for their non-vat genetic manipulation to explain her size.

The Mechanicus Van Saar gang gets some more paint too but still a ways to go with them. Did manage to switch the left arm on the neotek and get him primed.

Yak Comp 37 entry finally sees a bit more work with construction started on the print shop tile for X’agg the propagandist. I haven’t made a full tile terrain before so plenty of time still to run out of ideas, skills or energy but for now it’s taking shape. I’m thinking of keeping a majority of the equipment free standing either in small clusters or individually depending on size. That way the tile retains some flexibility and the storage options are better. It has led to the building of things like work tables and equipment needed for putting up flyers and posters which is fiddly work but kind of fun.

Everything looks really cool 👍

Chymist is a bit blurry, but its base is in focus 🤣

Long weekend saw some more progress...

Yakcomp 37 lurches forward. I am recalling why I haven't made or completed larger terrain pieces to this point due to their need for planning, incremental progress and the effort involved. Hopefully I can wrap it all up by the 27th.
