Probably updated. I think they haven't been adjusted for Dominion campaign, still referencing Turf War campaign elements. Even if they don't mean to, GW always changes random stuff anyways.

When is the book released anyway?

I have pre-ordered it, but if someone sees a leaked pdf somewhere, please contact me, as I prefer to have digital version also.

On the Pre-order page for the book, you can see 3 'page scans' and one of them is the initial part of 'Venator gang composition'.
The resolution isn't optimal, but if you save the picture and zoom in you can try to read the slightly pixelated text.

From what I could make out Venators in Dominion campaigns start with the free 'un-loseable' settlement (just like any other gang), and they can occupy/take-over territories as other gangs. They can even benefit from territory enhanced boons aligned with the House of origin of the Venator leader (if he has one, but I'd say you would always take a House origin on the leader for this benefit at least).

Besides that Venators that capture enemies (and they aren't rescued right away), will automatically sell them to the Guilders (no After battle action needed I think) at full value (instead of half). Also whenever an opponent deletes a dead fighter from their roster, after a game against Venators, the venators gain half of the killed fighter's value in credits (I assume that means the value of the naked fighter, since his equipment goes in the gang stash, but I did not see any further clarifications on that point).

Venator gangs can't hire 'generic' bounty hunters (they are basically venator gangers), but they can hire Drammatis personae and Hive scums.

That is all that was visible on the previewed page, but it should give you a decent idea of how Venators will work in Dominion campaign - If you tought Venators were OP before, now they're arguably better, since they work just like any other gang, except you can completely Customise your profiles/skill trees/House allegiance and you can earn a lot of extra money by killing/capturing enemies.

My gut reaction when I first read they extra money gain rule, was that it was kinda broken in campaign play, but then I realized that in this same book there will be Guild alliances and I speculate the Guild alliances might provide some similar monetary/equipment benefits.
For example I could see an alliance with the Slaver guild, granting the gang an ability similar to the Venators, to sell captives at full value rather than half, while an alliance with the Water guild or the Corpse guild would grant the gang some money for fighters that died (on either sides) during games (similar to the Corpse farm territory and Venators special rule).

That said, we'll see what it is all about in just a few more days. I'm excited:)

Just recieved my copy this morning, the upside of working in a FLGS. I can answer questions but I won't take pictures till saturday
:D When taunted with such baubles I am tempted to put on my Sean Connery persona as portrayed on Saturday Night Live. However it is generally discouraged in our culture. :D

Waiting for my copy...

I talked a bunch in chat so you can check it there. Gonna copy and paste the juiciest details:

Venators updated, house legacies are slightly expensiver I believe, cannot take more than 3 weapons like other gangs and they work like a nowadays normal gang dominion rules wise.

Alliances look dope, they get you free stuff and sometimes free bodies but handicap you with their own rules, mostly what scenarios you can choose and they may require a little extra in the end phase. Stuff like keeping your seriously injured dudes instead of letting you take them to the doc or keeping a random dice roll of money out of all you win. You can ignore your part of the bargain but you gotta roll in a table and risk lossing their support. You can only have one alliance each cycle, if you break it you cannot take a new one till the end of the cycle.

There's new ammo types, and accessory like items that were sorely missed like MUNG VASES and wild snake pouches.

The badzone battlefields look like a fun thing you roll before the start of the game and add another layer, they are: Ancient manufactorum, stygian depths, sump sea, dome jungle, warp-tainted and unstable dome.

and they take d3x10 creds at the end of scenarios if you won any money, they take it all if you roll more than you earned

  • oh if you get the conclave in a game you can choose to play the game with pitch dark rules

The number of weapons is really not an issue. I preferred 5 for the versatility. Having 5 weapon slots does not make a fighter more efficient, to the contrary, they become bloated.
Indeed, it was a fluff rule that only added a layer of confusion, they seem to be more streamlined without superfluous one off rules like the extra weapon slots.

My metal Redemptionists, each modified with the exterminator flamer attachment, are now valid, and perhaps useful!
As I said the pyromantic conclave are a thing, I checked them out earlier today and it was like 4 dudes with 3 different stat lines, weapons and skills. One of them carried a flamer so the redemptionists could even be great "count as" minis!

I have serious doubts I’m going to be able to sleep Friday night. Going to be hammering the door of the local Warhammer store unless the ibook is out first.

(Yes, I’m almost 40)

The book is fine but really don't get such hype or you will not enjoy it!
I'll get home in 30 or so and read a bunch. Anyone wants me to check something in the book?

Ok so, the new special ammunition is a supplement to the weapon reference chart in gangs of the underhive. It contains plantbuster rounds, phospor rounds and rad rounds for al our auto weapons including heavy stubber and combi weapons with auto parts, and all shotguns including the sawn-off. There's also gunk bolts for bolt weapons including heavy bolter and combi weapons with bolt parts. There's also more grenades for grenade launchers, anti-plant, flare and plasma.
Finally non launcher grenades and bombs: anti-plant, flare, gunk bomb and plasma grenade. There's also a bunch of bizarre wargear, most have to do with the new badzones.

For the trading post and I quote:
"The section that follows presents a collection of additional weaposn and Wargear for players to add to their gang. These items can be purchased in the post-battle sequence from the Trading Post, or if player are building gangs for a Skirmish game, they may agree to allow their gangs access to some or all of the equipment that follows."

So just an addendum, works the same. Then tables of special ammo with price and rarity, same with wargear and personal equipment.

Sorry, not that much changed there!

Edit: Also something that looks off to me is that polearm-autogun cannot take these new ammo options. Makes no sense so maybe an errata? Maybe they thought it was too good? I for one believe its one of those rules as intended / rules as written conflict and they just forgot about pole-autogun weapons. Either that or those are considered combi weapons?
