The same people saying waiting a year is cool are the people who would like to be playing cyberpunk 2077 now. I for one like being able to buy things slowly for the past year. Sure we beta tested their rules and all, so what, I buy early access games which I cannot wait for full release, this is the same.

Yeah I enjoyed playing the game this year. But I still feel the game was sold under false pretenses. My original expectation was this is a full game, not early access, riddled with bugs and limitations. The price also indicates this is a full game. But we paid a lot of money for low quality! I was quite shocked to discover there were no chainswords or heavy stubbers last year. In my opinion these are hallmark weapons found in virtually any gang. The game sold to us in the start was simply not worthy the name of "Necromunda".

Is not. Early access games are clearly announced as such, you don't have to re-purchase them when they are finished, and being an early adopter usually means saving money compared to buying the game at launch.
And even like that Early access is often a shady practice in and of itself.

I don't think anyone would complain if they just kept Necromunda secret, waited 1 year instead and gave us the finished game in November 2018.
It didn't work like that, remember GW make 40k and AoS model, Specialists game is not their main focus. They release one bit at a time, so if any massive flop happen, they could shut down the whole production and minimize loss. The people who buy the game early basicly fund the production and give feedback to GW so they can decide to keep the production going or not. It also have them fill out the weekly release for a whole year, so they got thing on preorder every week.

I think this game is more akin to episodic release game than early access game. Or both because the of the typos.

Typos? Contradicting rules. Missing rules. Incorrect rules. Scenarios with bad conditions. Hidden changes. Badly written rules. The list is long dude! This is not a series of "working" releases.

Check out topics like "Blaze", "Toxin", "Charge", "Blast", "Promotions", "Advancements" and so much more.

I remember playing Half Life 2 Episode 1 and Half Life 2 Episode 2. It was nothing like this train-wreck!

I don't know how stuff "works" over at GW, but at launch 1 year ago, I honestly expected a "full game" with future expansions. It would be ok to have the gangs released later as they did, or more contents likes scenarios, a few gang-unique weapons, brutes, pets etc. This is far from what they did however. And when they originally released Necromunda in the 90s, that's what you got: a full game. I simply assumed we would get the same thing here.

I think you're looking at the wrong "Episodic release" type of game, Half life 2 was more like a full expansion than episodic release. When I said Episodic release think of : the new Hitman, Life is Strange, Telltale game, The Council etc etc.. even game like Street Fighter V are on a kind-of episodic release. Basicly new episode every 3-4 months, exactly the same as all Specialist games atm.

It is kind of shady, but are you gonna tell me early access is cheaper than waiting for the next steam summer sale? Once they have ironed the bugs and patched a bunch of content.

What about kickstarter? When you are promised something then have to wait another year to get what was expected? Sometimes you even have to wait for your parcel while the game has been out in stores for weeks!

I for one would have spent money on something else for the past year instead of focusing on Necromunda. Was it a flawed release? Indeed it was. Are the rules underperforming? They are not what I expect from a serious game company. Am I glad I had the chance to buy, build, paint and play one of my favorite games ever with new people for the first time in years? He'll yeah

Well the "episodes" in Blood Bowl for example actually works. The "episodes" in Necromunda don't. That's why you have a sump complaints thread on this forum for example. And a wave of complaints after each "episode" is released.

While I respect your opinion, this is not my experience. Most people here hated Bloodbowl Seasons, specially hardcore bloodbowlers.
As I said before the rules are the worst aspect of Necromunda's new edition, we can all agree on that. Yes, there is a sump full of complaints, some I agree with and most I find range from a-ok to frankly irritating and damaging to the community. Since we are not talking about delaques no more maybe we should keep this to the sump/spire wherever each of us feels at home? I mean we are not gonna convince the other one of our point of view anyway.

Maybe their release calendar, and finance department?

I dunno. Sounds a bit contrived to me, like the reddit guy pieces together ideas from known facts like the original designer leaving.

In many ways it doesn’t make sense to to release an unfinished and untested game over the finished one, just because you’d like to swap the resin titans into plastic.

How long did Horus Heresy runs before they make plastic versions??

I’d much rather they’d released AT first and Necromunda now if it meant we got a finished book(s) rather than push out full priced unfinished, untested work which then needs to be fixed by a new guy at the same time as he has to write new material. That’s stupid.

Plus if poor releases could kill Specialist Games then why o why would you deliberately push out poor releases!

What done is done, I only hope this get a season 2 and the kit have more budget, so we don't have to see a complete redesign just for x gang to fit the tiny sprue.

Also scenario that have both Underhive tiles alongside 3d terrain. like some kind of stage transition, where you split your gang into 2 teams and fight on 2 battlefield at the same time.

Here is my personal wishlist for those books:
Must-haves:
  • The Compendium is based on the aggregation of the latest version of all the existing rules, including the 3 WD gangs, the WD scenarios and the changes from the Gang Leader Accessory Pack
  • It incorporates changes, errata and clarification for every single (serious) question that people have sent to the FAQ e-mail address
  • It is been proofread and playtested with both veterans and first-time players. There is no ambiguous or non-sensical rule left, no internal inconsistency, and every change compared to the latest iteration of the same rule/profile is either self-evident or explicitely motivated
  • There are no two weapons with the same name and different profiles depending on context. Weapons with different profiles now have different names. More generally, the same word is never used for two different things (ie 'Pistol' is not a weapon trait and a weapon category, or at the very least the rules never refer to 'Pistol' but always to 'weapons from the Pistol category' or 'weapons with the Pistol trait')
  • Common items from the HWL are never more expensive than their Trading Post counterpart
  • Both books combined are less than £50.
I look at this and think these are all the things I want and then get to the last one...
Here is my personal wishlist for those books:
  • There is no rule printed on the inner cover.
...and I think why does this matter? GW1 used the inside back cover.

Personally I will be very surprised if these release meets the first five points.

Yeah, I was pretty sure I messed up the translation there... anyway, it's just a pet peeve of mine. If everything else is top notch, it may not even be a deal-breaker, it just looks very unprofessional.

It is totally unprofessional, same with the usage of terms like pistols and equipment or the background color being dark. I'll be happy if that's my biggest complain really. I just hope the rumor that's gonna be translated is true or else its gonna be extra hard for me to find people to play with here.

Is there any reason to fear it won't be translated? Weren't all the Gang War books translated so far?
I didn't really pay attention (I prefer to get my rulebooks in english these days because I'm wary of translation errors and it makes it easier to discuss over the internet)
