Punktaku’s Comp Thread

No pics this time, as I tried to put the arms on last night and realized I had made a fatal flaw when I didn’t test fit anything…. Sometimes the Tasmanian Style bits back…

Anyhow, the banner I assembled completely covers the front of the model, and there’s no room for the bell arm unless it’s raised up over the head. So I need to rethink this…

Since I had to scratch the banner pole I made, I needed a new one. Dug around in the bits box and found a replacement from the Flagellents sprue. Replaced the right arm with another from the flagellents sprue as well. So this guy is 1/2 empire flagellent. Explains the religious fervor? I wanted him to look more berserk, so that’s why he’s using the two melee weapons. I have a Mad Robot holstered pistol somewhere that I’ll give him.

Back banner poles always looked very inconvenient, but damn if they don't look cool! He does look a little feverish with fervor. Fervorish?

They’re very evocative of the style of 40k in the 90s.

Only problem Punky might face with one in the Underhive is low ceilings. Other than that - looks cool.

Yeah, that’s why I was trying to give him a pole with a sign. But, so long as he stays in a settlement and causes issues with the locals, the banner should be ok. If not, he can pop them out of their harness and move on to the next dome.

GW moved to the 5” tall platform design several years ago which helps a lot with their more… dynamically… posed models. Classic Necromunda bulkheads are slightly shorter than 3” when a platform is inserted and modern Zone Mortalis is an unsettling 2.5” high.

So we all have either problems with all models or none, depending on what we play on!!

I have a Cawdor leader kitbash who is just too tall to go under 2.5”, a flame tip too high for 3” and no issue anywhere else. Always one. 😂

I see you have got as far as I have on the Skip freebie from last years TribeMeet!!

It makes a nice parts holder while working on models. Keeps them in one place, plenty of room for bits, and open enough to get my fingers in there. It’s a nice piece.

It's a shame the bell isn't hollow. I know you've already painted it, but it might be an idea to drill it out a bit then carefully widen out the hole with a scalpel. Then you can put your own clapper in and it'll look a little better. You wouldn't need to go too deep, just enough to be obviously a hollow.

I have the feeling I’d ruin the thing if I tried that. Just a little too much pressure, and he’d be carrying a mini liberty bell.

YakComp 48: Musical Interlude. I went with Disciple by Slayer. Changed a word in the chorus to reflect the Imperial Creed (God-Emperor) for the back banner. The bell is to attract attention while proselytizing to the masses. The mace is for unbelievers. The bell too. (I couldn’t fit in a holster.) The front of the back banner is the album cover. I looked at the bare arm, and really wanted to try to give him a pentagram, but then I decided to give him Kerry King’s tattoo. It’s the wrong arm, and I kept forgetting to reverse the tattoo, but I think you can see what I was shooting for.
