Punktaku’s Comp Thread

@Kitcar in a literal way, yes. my original plan had been to use a hexagon doohickey from an aeropress coffee maker so it would seat six spyrers, but I couldn't find anything to put it on as a base. Then @Loriel started their N17 Spyrer rules update, and one of the suggestions was that all Spyrer teams be made of five models, so I went with that. (I only own 4 spyrer models anyway, so five or six bases don't really matter for me at the moment).

don’t look at the above date. means nothing (right?)

So this is kinda part Comp 27 (no way to finish in time) and January Finish Your Stuff Challenge.

I’ve had the parts for AGES. But no bases, so first i had to crank something out.

then i realized i had six sets of legs and needed another, so i made one and attached all the legs. Yup, they’re Tau.

Nothing too exciting to report. Drilled some holes in strategic places, and one set of legs popped off and needs to be reattached (you were doing so well, Gorilla Glue gel!!!). Hope to attach torsos and fill those holes later tonight. we will see.

Comp 27 is long over, but 28 hasn’t started yet, so i’m plugging on with my guilder’s Xenos Guard. Off worlders willing to do whatever he wants.
The Gunfighter. Every gang needs one.

So i didn’t get any further with the above guilder and guards than is pictured for the comp. I totally skipped Comp 28, and then i planned on using them for Comp 29 which was all about Guilds. But i didn’t get any paint on them, so now they’re candidates for the FYSC and will be moving over to my other painting threads...

So now Comp 30 is up and it’s about exploring a new cave discovered in the underhive (or similar areas for Mordheim or Gorkamorka). So while i have no photos for this yet, the idea is an ORB Cawdor group based off DV cultist models (because that’s what i have).

i’ve spent the last couple nights digging through bits boxes to make spelunking gear, but i have discovered that my Minis Bits Box is seriously lacking. (i have terrain bits up the wazoo) Sooo....

Maybe i’ll do a slightly geared up crew AND the secret entrance to the new area. Since i’ve only completed one Comp ever, i don’t want to get too ambitious here.

Annd there goes my luck... i want these guys to be members of my existing Cawdor gang, so they’ll get red and white hoods. But now my Skulk White has turned to rubber... i doubt i’ll be able to get anymore in time to make the deadline...

Just an update to keep the thread (and myself) active. The Xenos Guards and the Cawdor spelunkers are finished. They both were used for FYSC but i think the Spelunkers managed to just squeak into the accepted entries for Yak Comp 30.

Yak Comp 31 is underhive hazards of some type. I have an idea to make something inspired by Love Death and Robots, but my bits box let me down. Well, not really. Once upon a time i would've used what i found, but considering the high standards of some of the Yaks, i know it's not acceptable. (Toy parts without backs don't really work for me anymore...

I know what you mean, the level in these comps keep rising. I'm actually happy I didn't realize that before I jumped in with both feet, because now I have a few behind me it isn't as daunting. And although it would be nice to win one, it still helps me build stuff and stick to it until it's done! And if I don't finish there's always FYSC. ;)

Then sparks due to a short circuit caused by a arrow slicing a conduit. Spyrer X starts talking like Max Headroom and his weapons starts discharging randomly... Spyrer X retreats to the station again for repairs, a shield drops and the Redemptionist gang grins with the success. :) :D :) :D
...While the other four Spyrers step out of the dramatic shadow into camera-view. We hear a scream and a gurgle from off-screen.

And then the monologue where the Spyrers explain why they hunt the proletariat down-Hivers.

View media item 44037Not sure how long it’s been time-wise, but I whipped this thing up for @Mad Robot ’s comp ages ago. (YakComp 20?). It’s been sitting around primed ever since, so I took a few minutes to slap some paint on it.

The basic idea is that Escher gangers can brew up some toxins (the red stuff) and turn it into tox grenades in the second unit. Open the black piece and take out the grenade, ready to go.

Cut it in half and your objectives can be accumulated for bonus bennies. Get both halves, make blues and reds for the gang.

Finished another long-past Comp piece. This one is a performers stage for a “gentleman’s club” of questionable moral standing. Two performers at once (one on either side of the ring) with once-mirrored floors (now just a dingy metal). When it first opened the Ring of Fire used an actual flaming ring, but that proved to be too much for the performers. This ring has been painted to resemble flames.

This piece is the lid off a plastic jar of cheap plastic animals, a wreath ornament from a Christmas tree, and model battleship bits: turrets for stage lights, anti-aircraft gun drink nozzles, and other random pieces for bar bits.

An update mostly for me (so i don't forget i actually have threads here): on top of FYSC April (almost over) there's YakComp 33 and now the Mad Robot Mega Challenge... None of which i have ideas for. Sigh...
