I tried out including a Hardcase Cyber mastiff in a recent skirmish game in preparation of our first Campain. Long Story short, it didnt do anything at all. Leader went down before the dog even had a Chance to get into melee and just left after his owner bled out with 2 seriously injured rolls and 1 more Flesh wound at the start of turn 3 due to the new rules. Another 130 Credits pretty much wasted on nothing on top of my Leader.

So that made me question the whole Pet thing - is the Hardcase even worth it in any way? I mean, I get a Patrolman with Bolter for that Cash xD Regarding the badzones it seems to be even worse, wtf is that hacked abomination? :'D

And if the pets dont seem to be worth it, are the Sanctioners? They seem pretty darn expensive as well, I mean, a Webgun/Mancatcher or a Concussion Cannon seem cool, but 300 Credits? Especially with the new nerfed Blast templates?

Is it just me, or am I just better off sticking to Patrolmen and Subjugators, even tho its a bit sad? :(

Isn't that why people say it's a narrative game? You're supposed to build a story, not ask these questions

Kinda makes me wonder what's the point of GW/FW releasing all these new fancy minis. Another example is this one:

29€ to buy, hours and days to paint. And you end up with something "absolutely useless", ref a recent reddit discussion:

There seems to be a fair few options that *mechanically* just don’t seem to offer any value. It’s a real shame.

Goliath dude is a nice model, better than some of the others they offered up anyway.

Unfortunately (to the OP) you’ve just either gotta play some things “for the fun of it” or not play them at all.

Got it, I thought so. I'll see if I can fit the Dog then, but right now it feels like fot a first time trying it is too much off a Handicap, especially with the limited income of enforcers.

Btw I am no competitive Player at all, the dog just felt especially garbage to me :D

@Böhmi some of these options are better taken mid-late campaign when you may well have the resources to spare.

Or simply in a skirmish.

There are definitely options to avoid in a starting Gang else you’ll just hamper your progress early on.

Good call, thank you! Maybe thats the way then, I really would be sad not putting my Dog on the Table now that its already painted 😂

Avoid in starting gang.

Later on a pet is useful if your fighter seriously injured someone nearby with his bolter, the pet can charge in to KO.

Pets are even more useful in campaigns that cap your fighter limit as they allow each fighter to take 2-3 extra models over the limit (as pets are technically wargear so won't count towards model cap, unless your campaign rules that there is a limit on them)

The Sanctioneer seems very good. 205 credits for a T5 / 3W model with Got Your Six, gives Heavy Cover to anyone behind it. Comes with a Grenade Launcher with Photon Grenades and for just 40 more credits you can get a Assault Ram that comes with frag and gas grenades. 20 credits for heavy carapace? It's a steal. Very cost efficient model!

And there is that small supplement that gives Automata and Hardcases different protocols to use which gives them different buffs! it's fun stuff.

If you can ever buy one.. been out of stock since day 1

I mean, if you leader got pegged and went out before he could do anything... whether you've gone with a 130 cred pet or a circa 130 cred special/heavy weapon, its a waste.

But yeah, expensive pets are generally not good investments, but a luxury item. The odd wasteland rat thrown in to help out/run interference is very useful though.

Where do u get that Supplement?

You don't. I haven't been able to find a Sanctioner, even secondary anywhere. I'm considering kitbashing an ambot into one - anybody done this? I've also got some Skorpekh destroyers that could maybe be kitBashed into one...

I'm so sorry, I just saw this now. https://www.warhammer-community.com...xecute-a-daring-prison-break-with-lady-credo/

Also, about their viability. With the new Core Rules allowing Brutes to be taken at gang founding, I took a Automata for my Badzone Enforcer gang in my most recent campaign from day 1. It's very fun model to use, I used it with the standard fist and stick layout and once it did reach combat with something it really added a new dimension to police brutality - It killed a Goliath Stimmer and a Road Captain!

The only unfun things about it was that you cannot buy new items for it once you have it, because it's a brute. I didn't realise this and I had planned on upgrading to a Man Catcher but alas. It's also a little weird with the Gas Grenades because they are Limited items, once they run out.. you cant buy more. It has a tendency to get pinned and attract a lot of attention, which is kind of the point but you need to get Nerves of Steel asap.

Great looking crew, man.

Ask your self these questions is the pet as a ratio of 1wound cost 100 cred or less. If so might be interesting. If it cost more especially with T3 it is probably not interesting. Does he fill a role that no one else can do? Does it have T3 or 4? Does it has to fight in close combat or not?...

When it was at 70 it was too cheap. At 130 it's too expensive.

A pet that brings nothing much and Cost four hive scums and two stub gun is not worth the price.

If you absolutely need to augment the size of your gang in scenario where number is limited buy rats.
