Rogue Trader video game

Well that looks super sweet.... but I'm so backlogged on games I've bought but haven't played I should hold off.

I own Fallout 4, even installed it, have never played it.

I bought Cyberpunk 2077 but only have like an hour into it.

I haven't even finished Fallout 3 even though I'm at the end (or so I think).

Same with countless other video games.

Sigh....

Likewise. I want to play the bouty hunter FPS one. But also want to play the games I bought before my 1st child was born, and he's about to go to school, so I'm not going to spend the money.

Last game I bought was the last of the Thief games. Never got around to install it...

None of these games appear to be available for my Wii…

Bought Total Warhammer II with Tomb Kings DLC... I think I might've got into the start game screen. Hired Gun is... ok. It looks gorgeous and I'm probably about halfway through but the gameplay doesn't grab me much (FC 3: Blood Dragon is in some ways similar and it's a lot more exciting). Gonna finish it after my second playthrough of SRW 30.

I've finally reached saturation with buying games that I intend to play one day. I periodically see games that look tempting (most recently Wasteland 3 on sale) but have finally managed to realise that I'm unlikely to play them any time soon (probably ever) so don't buy them. If I can find the time to play Kingmaker and/or Wrath of the Righteous before this is released, I'll consider it, but otherwise it'll probably end up being admitted from afar.

Curiously I don't seem to have achieved the same state with miniatures. I bought myself the new Squat gang for Necromunda despite my backlog of unbuilt plastic.

Similar feeling here.

I've played almost all the top Warhammer branded games of recent years and there's only 5 left on my PC - Total War, Mordheim, Blood Bowl and Warhammer Quest 1 & 2, although I prefer the 1st WHQ over the 2nd.

And even though they're on my PC I rarely play them - they just get boring too quickly and are only really a novelty for when I want some "Warhammer-vibes".

Warhammer games have a problem. They're usually very similar to other more superior titles. Or just poor mobile type games. And generally end up boring/repetitive rather quickly.

In many cases it just seems GW don't care who they give licenses to, and there's been a lot of spam, for want of a better word.

You see all the rave reviews, but most of those are bought and paid for, I've seen some other reviewers state that the games are only really for those interested in Warhammer (Chaosbane reviews for example), people who aren't should look elsewhere for better games, and in my experience they're right.

And that's before you even consider the widespread problem with video games currently, in that you often don't get a complete game on launch, and it's always DLC this, DLC that, in-game purchases this that and the other!

There is one current title I'd like to try, Vermintide (1 or 2), but they're online only, and co-op, which puts me off. Apparently you can play solo although I'm not sure how well. Maybe I'm getting old but I'd rather not get disappointed again...

I'd love a WFRP video game, but I know it would be poorly implemented, probably being full of micro-transactions if not being a grindfest MMO ala WoW. Ditto for a combined space/ground game like Star Wars Empire at War/Battlefront 2005, combining both Battlefleet Gothic and 40k...

Sorry /rant

Vermintide is fun (I've actually only played 2, but I don't think it was that much of a change from 1). If you enjoyed Left 4 Dead you'll likely enjoy it. That said, it has all the pitfalls of being an (almost exclusively) multiplayer game. If you can find a group of people to play it with it'll be fun, but relying on pick up groups is going to be frustrating.

Personally I think an RPG where you okay as an Inquisitor and their retinue would be amazing (if done well). I think Owlcat choose Rogue Trader instead because they have started they like management style mechanics (Kingmaker had your kingdom management, and WotR had Crusade management) and the so provides that, but I'd actually have prefer something closer to Dark Heresy myself. Perhaps the 40k Star Trek theme is seen as more appealing to non-40k fans than the 40k secret police theme too?

WFRP would be much appreciated. I loved both campaigns I played of it, specifically for its relatively low powered, grounded style. Not sure that that would be popular amongst most video game players, who seem to prefer power fantasies to being a rat catcher with a small but vicious dog.

Honestly I'm just surprised it has taken this long for a proper CRPG to be set in one of GW's IPs. If Owlcat's pay performance is anything to go by I'm cautiously optimistic (it'll be hugely buggy at release, but unlike a lot of triple A games it'll get patched). Of course I just don't have the time to play these sorts of games anymore. Oh how I miss being 12.

New trailer? I look forward to hearing about people's experience with this, I might be open to a good Rogue Trader rpg...

Looks promising. I very much enjoyed the Fantasy Flight RPG books so this could be fun.

We're not a PC household and I'm not curious enough to try and figure out how/if the game could be played on a Mac. Hell, I can't even find details on the Owlcat site about how much memory or processor power is recommended to play the game to even price out a cheap laptop to play it on. I should stick to miniatures I don't paint and physical games I don't play.

The kid has a fairly descent second-hand stationary gamer pc, so I might be in with a shot if it isn't too power-intensive... But if it can't run on that, too bad. Not about to buy hardware just for this, the hobby is still plastic-centric as far as I'm concerned. :)

I am extremely hyped for this game to be honest. I liked the previous Owlcat games, and from what I know they really are treating this with great seriousness and care for the background and the 40K universe at large as well as the old Fantasy Flight RPG Rogue Trader which this is heavily based on. I'm looking forwards to it very much!

Oh, and Necromunda: Hired Gun was great, I love that game.

Whoa, this post is old but still relevant. I just saw the trailer for Rogue Trader, and I am pumped. The same team that brought us the epic c-rpg Pathfinder: Kingmaker is behind this game, and I have no doubt it's gonna be epic too. I mean, c'mon, they've proven themselves already. I can't wait to get lost in the world they've created. Have you played Pathfinder: Kingmaker?

I’m unsure if you last few posters are just dead keen and excited, work for the developer or both!! :ROFLMAO: anyhow carry on I’d to like try the finished product.
