So I'm pissed off, lost a game against a newb because I had to leave to catch a bus after 2 and a half hours of playing. Turns out all people have to do to get a free win against me is stall knowing I'm on a timer. This is bs

And breathe...

I presume you're playing newmunda... How did you make a game last over two hours? It's supposed to be the quick slick modern version 😬

Assuming this was part of a campaign, as opposed to a one-off pick up game, then it sounds like something for the arbitrator to address.

opponent had to have the arbitrator at the table all the way, had a stupid gang where they were all the same and unpainted and unmarked so no way to tell which was witch. he had all with grenade launchers and we have a stupid house rule what basically means you can use grenade launchers as mortars (almost) targeting places you can't see. This has to be the worst game I have ever had and had to take the loss because I had to run for the bus.

Sounds like a person to not play again. At least not Necro.
I guess he didn't get the message about Necro being a fun narrative game and not a new installment of Tournament Fuckery.

In our games, if time is running out, we figure out who is in the best position and give them the win. No ”oh, you have to go so you lose”.

We have been playing with this rule, but haven’t seen any unpainted models because, as the Eye of Horus podcast states “Fully Painted is for Closers” - “Unpainted models start each battle with the Gunked condition and are always Revealed when using Pitch Black rules.”

Generally we call it a draw, unless one side was greatly outclassed; you never know how badly a single round can flip the game when one of gangs fails bottle and cool checks left and right.

All my games typically last more than 2 hours 👀 I've played skirmish games quicker on tournaments, but in general the people I play with are slow and we spend some time chatting about in-game and out-game stuff.

'Munda has a ton of moving pieces, so it is definitely not a quick game to resolve. A lot of time is wasted on checking out the scenario, how to deploy, what special things are tied to the scenario, various bookkeeping and don't start me on the post-game rolls... Generally we are done in 1.5-2 hours. And do note that we are playing with heavily modified ruleset, which does increase the playtime somewhat (mainly because gangers do not drop like flies to each other's shooting )

I would have been fine with a draw, but it won't bother me again, I told him last night I won't be playing him again. I'm actually going to make a video today on "Is
Necromunda for you?" discussing some mentalities around wargaming and list building as as things to keep in mind.

It can take some time for fresh players to adjust. I wouldn’t jump straight in and make a reactionary video until you’ve at least had some down time*.
*Down Time - just like when you are halfway through the campaign. Fighters that are injured come out of recovery and everyone gets a cred boost.

You had a negative experience. It happens. Don’t let one night ruin the whole game for you, and try to be kind to the noob. Maybe teach him a few things, like Click! and Lights Out!.

Our arbitrator tried advising him when he said what gang he wanted to build, he did not listen.

Id suggest a change to your "grenade launchers are mortars" house rule, to acknowledge that ceilings are a thing in the underhive.
Mole mortars are a thing in the game now, even when it makes no sense, like when you're 3 stories up on a walkway with nothing but a sheer drop between it and the ground. Apparently it can still Tunnel it’s way to the target.

Also roof height is subjective. Some of these domes are supposed to be able to fit a modern skyscraper in.

yeah I'm going to suggest a hard stance on you can only shoot what you can see. And thats a rule I'll use if or when I run a campaign. Maybe allow thrown grenades to be thrown to a level above but always scatter d6
