N18 Scouring clarification

Sorry if asked before bit can't find it anywhere.

Is Chaos cults witches power scouring a 2 action flamer.
Action 1- cast scouring- counts as being armed with template flamer as described.
Action 2-use said flamer weapon.

Or when you cast it it auto spurts out a flame template for the 1 action of casting it?

Its a discussion we are having in our group due to the wording of scouring.
The you count as being armed with, as opposed to you use/shoot etc.

You have to spend a separate action to shoot the weapon! The spell only gives the bonus to the weapon.

So it is a really bad power to have. Your witch has to stand still all game just to cast a s3 template.

Looks like my witch may just choose a savant skill instead of a psykic power.

Yeah the problem is, these skills originated from before the Wyrd power and psyker rules were made. Back then, they just followed their own unique rules. Now, all psykers and wyrd powers share the same rules, and some of these wyrd powers was not balanced properly in the process. The result is some wyrd powers are now almost useless, or extremely situational.

But maintaining a power is a action by itself.

I think this is the real issue with Scouring. If the power could be maintained without losing an action it would be a much more attractive option.

If when you use the power you actually use it, not be able to use it with another action. It would make more sense.

Shame as it is the coolest power going.

So what to do with my Witch. Forget psycic powers and go savant for extra creds or finding extra rare stuff.

I run my witch with dark shield and the cult icon and give him an entourage of 2 fighters armed with ranged weapons, usually my heavy stubber champ/long rifle ganger and an auto gun ganger. That way I can lay down some heavy firepower and get a 5+ save on them all.
