Howdy,

Me and my friends have started learning to Necromunda with a Dominion campaign and so far we’ve played through three games each so far and a few other practice skirmishes prior to the campaign. I play Van Saar and the other gangs in the group are Cawdor, Squats and Enforcers (house ruled so they can take territories).

I’ve been pretty lucky and won my first three games and I’ve started getting a bit of income rolling in. I’ve also rolled pretty hot with house favours (aside from the mind wipe I rolled last game), settlement recruitment and income.

I’m concerned about me pulling away in strength (notwithstanding balancing rules we can chuck in like underdog rules, extra gang tactics etc) and/or becoming unfun to play against, but as I don’t have a lot of experience, I wanted to get some feedback on how oppressive my crew might be becoming, or whether I’m jumping the gun a bit and should let things play out a little longer.

Please let me know if I should ease up on things, maybe trade in a plasma gun or two, and what other wargear I could look at.

TIA (btw, I’m on Australian time so I may not reply straight away)

Oof 3 plasma guns.

Not sure what you're starting list was, or how competitive the other lists you're against are but I can see why you may be dominating a little.

The problem with Van Saar however is it's hard to build them to be less of a ranged powerhouse without making intentionally terrible choices.

Perhaps try mix in some grenades or other "bloat" options with your credits to allow other gangs to catch up if you are really running ahead, or swapping a plasma gun for a pistol /energy shield forcing you to play a little more high risk?

Three plasma guns, + a Grav Gun and a Neotek w Hand Flamer... that's a strong list.
Rather than break your list, I'd be a little extra generous in offering underdog benefits... and consider playing some close-ranged, tunnel fight scenarios.

Awesome, thanks for your feedback guys. I'll take my foot off the pedal and maybe swap a plasma gun for something else, get my guys some healthcare benefits and grenades.

Re the other gangs:

The Palanites are playing a lot of grenade launchers, concussion carbines and have a Sanctioner Pattern Automaton. They seem like a tough fight for me, especially with their -2 modifiers to shooting front on with their shields on their two champs.

The Squats are pretty diverse, but have two very strong, very expensive fighters - one with a heavy stubber and the other with power hammer and meltagun. They're all either super or pretty tanky.

Cawdor are struggling a bit and we're looking at how we can give them a bit of help, but their main threat is a combo of a champ with overseer giving four shooting actions to another champ with fast shot and a grenade launcher with flash grenades. The grenade launcher champ also has Cameleoline cloak. They have a Prophet from house favours for the rest of this cycle.

Cawdor were actually my most recent game, on the weekend and we played Takeover. My opponent had a few injuries from their previous battle so he had about 400pts of Underdog to play with and got the Headsman. It ended up a very close game, with him taking two of the landmarks, but I feel like I got some lucky shots in (instant killed his leader in the first round with plasma, broke the Prophet in subsequent nerve test) and probably didn't play as well as my opponent did, and had he had one more turn, would probably have closed the gap and butchered me in melee.

So you're in a pretty competitive group. As long as you don't pull away in credits earned, your friends should mostly catch up as they start adding undersuits and getting BS upgrades.
Get yourself a Rogue Doc and maybe invest in some cybertek. You're doing well enough that you can afford to invest in some cool, but not optimally effective toys. Grapnel launcher and grav chute on a fully kitted out Spider Rig Archaeotek? Spider Man is on your team.
Also, the shields on the Enforcers give a +1 bonus to save vs shooting and a +2 bonus to save vs melee attacks in their front arc.
