Shadow War: Armageddon General Discussion

The free PDF is awesome! Well done GW for the hand-outs for once :)

I now have an excuse to buy a box of neophyte hybrids (they are so well done that I didn't need much of an excuse!). The genestealer cukts temind me most of 'munda type gangs, so I will be playing them.

3 heaby stubbers FTW!!! Hehe.

Plus, I just realised that the GoMo mon I am working on can be used here. Whoop! Feeling a lot more positive about this now, though I will only be buying the rulebook. Still cant forgive them for trying to bundle in those sad looking scouts amd orks!

The PDF looks really nice and I'm digging this. This is a very good approach on 40K and the set seems to be fair priced and pretty cool, especially the terrain. But why are they making this "While stocks last"? I hope the Rules will be available seperatly, I'm not willing to pay a pile of money out of a daft "You got to buy now, because there will be nothing left in a few minutes" selling strategy. Uncool.

Hey hellboy, welcome to the tribe from me!
You know your exactly right about it being a sales strategy, but I really feel that this game can't fail! It's opening the doors for new players, giving a new play style for those already engrossed in 40k, and is a total calling for all us old folk to emerge from our slumber!
The only things that I think might hinder its development, is that 1) people will just use the miniatures that they already have (gw will most certainly be wanting to see a big rise in sales before committing more to a project) and 2) I just don't know how the current 40k community will take to the rule set and change in pace for the game!? I mean, I don't understand the fun in having to cart around a ton of miniatures and rolling ten thousand dice. No disrespect to those that do, but are them players going to be able to relate to only having a hand full of models, who perpetually miss their shots and spend a lot of time, when not hiding, running around the board trying to get the tactical advantage!? (I realise iv just explained every wargame ever made in this sentence, but I hope you get my meaning :p)
And Malo, although I'm super excited about it all right now, I am dubious. But if You do set something up I would definately contribute! :)

I don't think that the game will fail because of the "while stocks last" thing, either. I just don't like this kind of selling strategy.

You're totally right. I quitted 40K a few years ago, when the "bigger, better, faster, more" started. I need a lot of time for assembling, converting and painting (I'm really slow), hence the skirmish approach is what fits me most (combined with some kind of storytelling/rpg aspect). So yes, the news about this brought me back to the hobby and, to be honest, to Inquisimunda.

:) When I say fail, I mean lack support and investment from gw. For example, Mighty empires (a game that I love) has very little following and even when first released had very few supplements made for it, but it was still interesting enough for games workshop to re-release it, even though it failed again! Whereas, if you look at certain products, even though their range is dead and buried, are still available and are still making beaucoup dollars e.g. The gardens of morr, ork warbuggy (it's older than necromunda!).
Iv never followed inquisimunda, but you've definately come to the right place, the best place even! :) Hope to see you around the miniatures and terrain forum! Your pirate warband sounds well good!

Would you folks like a new category on YakTribe for SW:A?

I guess that would be good. A quick browse through the SW:A Gangs makes me think that it is different after all. It may be possible to adapt your Necromunda or (at least in some cases) Inquisimunda Gang to SW:A, but it remains to be seen, if it works good.
So it would be good to have a room to discuss things like this. Maybe some people want to start adapting the more uncommon Gangs for SW:A etc.

Well, according to Element Games website, it is GW only (not available from discount sellers) and GW UK is sold out already!

We'll see how this one turns out. I for one (given that the rules will be available separately) could imagine building two Gangs in the next months - Void Pirates for Inquisimunda and maybe a Genestealer Cult for SW:A and Inquisimunda. This way I could even go to my local GW Store and play a game (never done that before). If this works for more people, SW:A definitely will have its support from GW.

Hope to see you around the miniatures and terrain forum! Your pirate warband sounds well good!
Thanks! The first miniatures and bitz should arrive today, so the chances are good for some WiP pics tomorrow.

The box set is sold out. what isn't sood out are the 'kill teams' themselves. Ranging from £60 to £110 they are essentially bundles of several troops boxes from the same faction. They are massively OTT for a small band of elite soldiers and are more akin to a small 40K force.

I could literally buy a single box of Genestealer Hybrid Neophytes for £25 and that is 90 percent of my kill team. I know they need to shift stock but that is gratuitous to say the least.

EDIT: another cheeky thing; they dont even give a discount on the kill team; you can buy each element separately for the same price!

Still, a goos omen for keeping these games alive that it's sold out within hours! (just hope they release the rules separately!)

I don't know if they will be able to honour orders (hopefully they have a deal to get stock) but Wayland Games just sent me an email to tell me that they have SW:A up for pre-order, for £64 (I ordered 2 copies, and I will wait and see what happens.)

Dude I've got my fingers crossed for you. Expect to take ownership of them in about six months knowing Waylaid Games. Even when things are readily available it normally takes about three weeks to get them

Fear not my brothers. I shall stay strong on your behalf and not buckle to the Dark Heresy's of the GW Salious Departminicus. I shall carry forth the light of the ... £80 you say???

Where did I put my wallet?
