Shells now in the box. Incidentally, they are in fact cut from the same solder as the expended shells in the footwell - the perspective is deceptive.

Was going to suggest temporarily gluing the shells to nail heads to paint them, like so, but you progress in leaps and bounds and they are already done!
Looking really awesome! Makes me want to add cables under the vehicle I'm (randomly) working on, but I'm far too lazy to go to such efforts!
Short version on the can; It's inspired by an old Tennants Lager advert. That stuff has a large red letter T on the outisde of the can, and was (in said advert) touted as 'The Big T'. This can has a large red letter P, which if inserted into that advertising byline should give you a rough idea what Tennants tastes like.
Added since taking this pic: Piece of wire to reinforce the back of the cab and attach the seatbelts to. Just need to paint the rag on the back of the seat, finish painting (and attach) the driver, and add seatbelts, and that'll be the cab interior finished.

From the other side to show that yes, there is a ring-pull on that can, and oh was that a pain in the backside to achieve.
Passenger seatbelt in place (made from finest-quality Games Workshop kit instruction booklet, yes, it is actually possible for those to be useful) and waiting for glue to dry before painting; driver painted and waiting for seabelt clips to be painted before he gets glued in.
I've also glued the strip of GW kit instruction booklet that'll become the driver's seatbelt into place at the bottom end behind his seat; it's currently streaming away out the cab door at about 3-4 times the length it needs to be. I'll paint it black then get it into place round the driver and glued before cutting it to length.

OK so through complete, I-wish-I'd-planned-this, happy coincidence, the loadbed is exactly the right side for a miniature on a 25mm base to stand in. So, the area between the rear wheelarches is going to remain clear to allow exactly that.
Also: fuel filler cap, tail lights, blocking a gap between cab rear and floor with a bit of GW instruction booklet.

Having slapped down a bit of black paint to stop too much cardboard showing between stuff in the loadbed - post on which to mount the big gun, bit of stowage, and some ejected heavy-calibre brass waiting for glue to dry before I paint it.

These images are not quite final, that's going to have to wait till the weekend as it's currently raining and I'm in work tomorrow. The guy in the back is just there to demonstrate that he fits - he's not part of the build.

Nah, didn't have the parts handy to do that.
The wheels are common-or-garden Lego while the axles are round-section sprue, probably from either Tamiya or Italerai - they're just off a random sprue of 1/35 gubbins out of my bits box, can't remember exactly what. Conveniently enough, Tamiya sprue is much the same size as the axle holes in the Lego castings - close enough it just slots in, however it's loose enough to need glued. If I'd had tubing handy that the bits of round sprue would slot into I could've made axles that'd roll, but getting decent tubing other than cotton wool buds from junk sources is a pain.
Then there's the way I made up the brakes. Part of the structure of the wheel castings looks close enough to a drum brake for our purposes, so the pieces of wire representing brake lines go to those.

Seatbelts: Good to see safety is still first in the post-apocalyptic future, at least for the guy in the cabin. ;-)

The gun's a knotty one, it clears the cab roof by about five or six mil - so long as it's at the cab end of the loadbed like that, there isn't much lower it can go. Meanwhile the space between the wheelarches in the loadbed fits a 25mm base so perfectly I'm loathe to put anything else in there.
I'm thinking about yanking the gun and re-mounting it at the back of the loadbed, lower down. Will mean it won't be able to point forwards, so I'll probably start out by trimming the stanchion so the muzzle only just clears the cab roof and see what that looks like.
Definitely going to have a go over the weathering tonight after work. More drybrushing, both rust colour up underneath and paler tones all over. It's just got a single layer in each area just now, instead of the more usual multiple go-overs. No need to rush - plenty of time left at this point.
While I'm at it, here's a quick lineup with most of the rest of my vehicles. I'll include a second-hand, horribly-painted, Ork wartrakk I've got kicking aronund next time.
