Show us your Blood Bowl teams!

Finished painting my Human and Orc teams from the last starter set. They’ve only been WIP for about 5 years.

My first Blood Bowl team, the Grey Coast Scuttlers.

Only outshined in my local league by some bloody greenskins, this group has been a lot of fun to put together and play with. With that said, with a name like that, I may in the future phase these models out for Punga Miniatures' Pi'rats line to reinforce the nautical theme.

They look great. Are they done in contrast paints?

Gotta do those bases though.

Yep, all in contrast paints.

I'm already thinking of doing astro-granite for the bases on these guys. If and when I phase in the Pi'Rats minis I'll likely switch that up with planking.

Maybe a sand or beach themed base might work for a team known as the scuttlers?

You could have some bases as water, some as sand, some as rocks and some as transitions between them.

Add some flotsam (beach rubbish) and beach critters to some of the bases for variety and you have a team that plays beach ball of the coast.

It might also fit with the ship bases of the Pi’rats if you ever get them as well.

Unrelated note, but I've never liked BB models where they have the ball in their hands.. its the BB equivalent of the tactical rock, do they bring their own ball to pose with mid game? Are there rules around game balls and posing balls?

Apart from aesthetics, the models really only count as having the ball when the ball token is placed on their bases, be it pegged or otherwise.

I understand why you say that but my counterpoint is that I like to have all my positions to be visually identifiable by their stance (so I know who is who across the table) as well as having each stance look close to what each positional should be doing on the pitch.

So linemen stand generically, blitzers look like they are trying to hit someone, catchers look like they are trying to catch a ball, and throwers look like they are trying to throw a ball.

For throwers in particular it is hard to make them look like they are throwing a ball without actually modelling a ball into their hands.

Catchers can also fall into this basket if you want them catching a ball, but they can look like they are trying to catch a ball without actually having a ball.

Not sure whether that's just a joke or a serious question, but the game does not require models to hold balls.

This is true, though some have running rather than throwing stances. Also, you can distinguish positions by colour (usually on the base rim). That dates back to when whole teams were made of one identical model.

Not everyone uses the coloured base thing though. And coloured bases are kind of hard to see when you have a big scrum in the middle of the pitch (also a bit of a PITA for someone partially colourblind like me).

The stance thing is one of the reasons why I dislike the new GW Orc team as it is really hard to tell the difference between the blitzers and big ‘uns (formerly black orcs) until you realise the blitzers have a hairsquig and the big uns don’t.

The human team and elf teams have similar issues with blitzers and linemen both having very similar stances and only really being differentiated by their helmets.
