Greetings,

Looking at the Ogryn section of House of Chains there seems to be some inconsistencies but it manifests pretty clearly in this issue.

Suspenders are an Ogryn only "Heavy Weapon Accessory" stating, attached to a ranged weapon with the unwieldy trate a Shoot (double) becomes a Shoot (basic) action.

Excellent, as if you wouldn't get them, except... Ogryns can't actually take any ranged weapons let alone heavy weapons with unweildy.

Furthermore it states under the statline the conditions of new weapons/equipment/wargear.

• A Slave Ogryn may purchase Augmetic Weapons when recruited. During the course of a campaign, a Slave Ogryn may not be given additional Augmetic Weapons.
• During the course of a campaign, a Slave Ogryn may be given additional weapons purchased from the Hand Weapons section of this list.
• During the course of a campaign, a Slave Ogryn may be given new Wargear purchased from this list or from the Trading Post and the Black Market.

So basically, what the hell is going on? Why give these boneheads a specific accessory to provide a specific benefit to a specific item they cannot take?

Let me know if anyone has noticed this, if it's been covered etc.

Thanks!

In that section? Inconsistencies are rampant throughout all books and publications because selling books (14 so far) makes more money than quality control apparantly.

The slave ogryn suspensor issue was already reported at launch :

As Topsy said, plenty of us have noticed it. It’s just one of many times that the writers have forgotten what their rules actually are.

Some people think that it’s meant to be a suspensor harness rather than the suspensor which would let them take four weapons instead of three, but it could be anything really.

The only ranged Augmetic Weapon is the Storm Welder. These are implants, and so the Ogryns don't have the knowledge or resources to install them on their own. This does not prevent them from equipping other non-augmetic weapons but they can't equip ranged weapons per point 2.

House rule: any weapon a Slave Ogryn gang aquires can be turned into an Augmetic version by taking the medical escort post game action with the recipient as the patient. TReat rolls of 1 as 2-5. This is the only way a Slave Ogryn may equip a ranged weapon not on their equipment list.

• During the course of a campaign, a Slave Ogryn may be given additional weapons purchased from the Hand Weapons section of this list.
Per the rules they cannot equip ranged weapons. If you use my house rule above, they can equip augmetic ranged weapons if a doc installs them.

• During the course of a campaign, a Slave Ogryn may be given new Wargear purchased from this list or from the Trading Post and the Black Market.
Wargear does not include weapons, so this does not allow them to equip guns.

So as others have said the suspensor is useless to them rules as written, but a savvy Arbitrator can make this gang more interesting. Like a lot of the game, it looks great on the surface but starts to fall apart if you look closer and it required a dedicated Arbitrator to run smoothly.
