Speed Freaks boxed set?

I’m guessing a true flop would be one where they ended up with stock they couldn’t shift. Though that’s a rather simplistic summary.
[...]
The problem with BB and Necro is that there’s a limited output. Compared to their big systems which are unlimited.

There’s only so many gang members you need, or weapons, or hired guns.
Add to which not being Competitive Tournament Games, the various sub-games like Necromunda and GorkaMorka did not penalize players for using non-GW models in their various conversions. Heck, really, they encouraged it. Which means that support did not necessitate increased dollars for GW. Initial binge of buying for a given player, and then only drips and drabs. Not a matter of un-shifted stock, but a view that "potential" dollars were not being spent, and that somehow that is a loss of profits.

Basically, that each Necromunda player or GorkaMorka player was a loss of a potential 40K player, and how much more money they could make off a 40K player instead. Not actually TRUE of course. I doubt that any actual statistics could even pretend to back that idea up. But the "core games only" idea certainly did visibly take hold.

If on the other hand success of a line were measured by player loyalty, and duration of use, well, the various "specialist games" as they eventually were called are perhaps some of the most successful, right up there with the original WFRP. But that is a long-term, slow income stream, rather than constant and fast.

Edit too:

Also, GorkaMorka especially would also incidentally hide anyone buying models to support their GM game within general ork-for-40K-model-buying. That could not help in convincing any audit.

Edit:

Also looking really forward to adding these to various GorkaMorka gangs. And likely even as straight builds! Just the right post-apocalyptic-road-movie vibe. Road Warrior. Tank Girl. Turbo Kid. Six-string Samurai. Zombieland. Fury Road. Sure, not Panic In Year Zero, but hey.

It is gonna be expensive indeed, and with Vanguard due for delivery soon, my paint stack is about to blow up !
Also, their ads and communication cracks me up. Whoever is in charge of this is doing it right ; if only they could be as much on point when they write rules and publish them ;D

Orktober has begun.

That trike is really nice. Hope things are reasonably priced.

I have almost no experience with 40k but I'm intrigued by Mad Max Orcs and a Gorkamorka-Style game. I'd like to get one or two Speed Freeks boxes and maybe a big battlewagon.

In case I want to bring the toys to a 40k table: Roughly, how many points (40k) are in the quoted picture? I know the codex is not out yet, but let's assume costs stay same-ish.

Right thinking. If you die, you will die historic. Witness!

No idea what the 40K costs will work out to be, since it would end up [having to be] an Evil Sunz/Speed Freaks army, which is/will be a subsidiary [sub-faction] army list, so costing is often different to equivalent units in the "main" faction list. Best GUESS would be to have someone price it out in whatever is the most CURRENT Evil Sunz/Speed Freaks list, but that will likely change, possibly drastically, especially given those many new custom buggies with their own unit names, for which there is no real direct equivalent yet.

it is gonna be expensive for sure...
Weirdly enough, this is my least favorite vehicle so far, too! Even if it has squigs. Maybe the colors? I want to see different angles, too.
Cant wait for a proper release, tho!

There is something about the way they paint them sometimes that makes the models look worse than they are. Quite a few times I’ve seen stuff unpainted or painted by someone else and it looks a lot better!!

When the public get their hands on these then we’ll see what they’re really like!

I think the paint scheme does it no favours. Visually, though, I can very much see a Mad Max style truck in there. Especially by replacing the rear tires and axle with something a bit more massive, to skew the angle of the frame. But even without, through the addition of various extra gubbinz.

I don't much care for the design of the buggy either - looks like the forbidden love child of a pick-up truck and a go-kart - but there's so many wonderful bits in there...

I love the little scratch marks on the crew - attention to detail!
