is dead in the new Imperial Guard codex I grew up with him and I’m strangely upset that this completely fictional character has gone.

I remember a young Clockwork making a special Rhino he could stand in so that my loyal guard could see him. Sad times.

Yeah, he’s cool. I owned his (1992) Ork claw for a while after a mate chopped it off for a conversion of that model.

To be fair though, they're really pulling Yarrick because they don't want his epicness to be compared with Lord Commissar Tinyhat...

Nothing yet, but there's some speculation as:
1- It would be mad (although in some ways very appropriate for Guard) for a beloved named character to die off screen with no fanfare when they could make an event of it instead.
2- The potato camera shot of Angron had him fighting Guard, and he was last banished in the first war for Armageddon.

So what if Angron was resummoned to Armegeddon or returned there for revenge? Yarrick could have gone down fighting him or trying to stop him coming back. Quite a way for the old man to go out, though Ghaz won't appreciate him two-timing with another big enemy.

Oh my goodness the idea of Ghazgkhull being romantically jealous of Yarrick and Angron.. What in the galaxy could make Ghazgkhull Mag Uruk Thraka so wounded and insecure as his best boy Yarrick gettin' fighty with the Prince of War, who also stomped Armaggedon itself before Ghaz ever met her.. Harsh.

Bit of an update here, including what I'd assume is the bit of the Guard codex that got everyone so worked up. Honestly at this point I'd assume he isn't dead at all, else why draw so much attention to that possibility?

Maybe he fell through a warp rift and will pop up next in AoS as a Stormcast Eternal. ;-)
