Necromunda Stoof's Project Thread

Wow! Thanks for that!

So kicking arse and leaving the Administratum to deal with nonsense like taking names is definitely still on the cards even after all those intervening years/editions and losing a bunch of models. Impressive!

Nice list and seems competitive enough for a bunch of garage models.

I would blend the special weapons squad into the Veteran squad (as BS3+ is gooder with gooder guns) and provides enough bodies for the inevitable casualties.

Also really needs a Company / Platoon Commader or two for the orders. Platoon commander would replace the missing Elites choice from point above.

When taking a bunch of tanks, I also love a Tank Commander (in the Demolisher maybe?) who has higher BS and can dole out orders to himself or one of the other russes. YMMV though as would mean losing out on other stuff and 3 russes are good enough without him, particularly if you're playing Cadians or Catachans (with your list I would play them with Cadian doctrine for sure).

I definitely have enough random blokes and misc officers to make platoon commanders - is it still platoon command squads or are individual blokes allowed now? I remember I usually went with commander, special weapon, guy with a vox and two grunts back in the day, with each command leading a platoon of three squads.

Definitely. It was always a pain having to knock together fairly pointless little squads to make your troops choice count.

Also see if you can break down the lascannon heavy weapon squad so they can go in to the heavy weaponless infantry squads and add in another mortar heavy weapon squad instead.
The lascannon heavy weapon squad is an easy kill for your opponent and lascannons are a priority target, splitting them up makes removing your antitank harder. Mortars are just fun so more is good :)
Remember dudes in squads can shoot at multiple different targets nowadays so there's no wastage of fire

The lascannon heavy weapon squad exists only on paper. Well, pixels. It's a missile launcher, lascannon and (now-illegal) multi-melta in the lead.

I could split the already damaged Autocannon team, replace the missing ACs with Lascannon and attach to the Cadian squads. Then give the remaining AC team a lascannon and a missle launcher friend (I'm assuming you are allowed to blend HW squads in 8th?). Anti-tank for everyone!

And yes, mortars are great fun.

I'm not too worried about different themed units in the same squad - the entire army is a mismatch due to necessity (the shop in my hometown didn't have coherent stock or a wide range) - so the invented story is that these are the survivors of a wide variety of lost or badly beaten companies which have been amalgamated as best as possible to turn lots of little surviving units into a vaguely useful combat force. Can't be having soldiers wandering around looking for their designated units when they're perfectly capable of dying alongside others, can we!

Looking dangerous! ;)

(PS - trying to sculpt an aquilla medallion in 28mm scale - not easy. Credit to real sculptors there!)

It’s what has become of Captain Clone X since the rest of them left him home alone on board the Crumpet!
Here he is when he was fresh from being artificially created in a lab!....

Pot noodles and double deckers wreck havok on a perfect Clone body when all your clone siblings leave you behind then get mercilessly killed!

It's milliput. The standard yellow-grey flavour generally used for DIY jobs. I prefer it to green stuff - It sets solid so you can use it for structural bits, you can cast in onymaru with it, it's very pliable and sticky when it's freshly mixed (not to everyone's taste), it can be filed and carved to sort out any issues once it's dry, and you get a lot of it for your money. Plus it's handy for actual DIY, which is a nice bonus

I haven't used green stuff for years, but I remember it setting quite flexible and often bending back out of whatever shape you'd coerced it into, as well as being structurally quite weak. Never looked back once I'd tried milliput.

May have to try this milliput. a couple pro sculptors I used to follow on Facebook love beeSputty, but it needs to be baked and I'm not too sure about that bit.

It is definitely a pro's choice, I've never tried it. I think the benefit of beesputty is that you arent constrained by having to finish what you're sculpting within 15 mins or whatever, as it stays pliable until it's baked.

Milliput gives you about half an hour to 45 mins before it starts getting too firm to easily work with, and sets hard overnight.

It’ll just be a placeholder until you finish the real deal, but I just love it!
Thanks Stoof! :):):)

P.s. just an idea but maybe if you take him to TribeMeet, he could be an option to any gang facing the trolls!?
So if a gang did choose to use him he would have the stats of a heavy with a missile launcher, bolt pistol (standard side arm of a captain) and a knife, but to add balance, the trolls get 260 credits worth of mop haired degenerate mutants, just for that fight! (Mysterious Captain Clone X only shows up when he’s most needed!)

Haha, I like it, "a mysterious wanderer has joined your gang... you hear howling in the distance"

In that case I'd better paint him as per your handy colour scheme above. I was going to ask if you wanted me to send him unpainted or if you would like me to do the honours.
