Stoof's Project Thread

I do have Necromunda stuff in the queue, I promise 😅

I've also run out of BA stuff to paint, so there's that too.

Comp 42! The answer to the question of the meaning of Comp.

My aim for this one is to create a Necromunda Wyrd who has rolled... poorly on the "perils of the warp". Some mild mutation may occur, or a slight demon posession...

This is my starting point - I've wanted to Necromundify one of these guys for a very long time. So his time has come! He's so old, the plastic has yellowed with age.

But first, if he's to look a bit less orky and a bit more "whoops I've become a mutated horror from the warp", he needs a visit from Messrs. Dremel, Scalpel and File:

So he can get some suitable 40K and Demonic accoutrements:
The Ordo Malleus reminds Psykers: Please do not listen to the voices. Under no circumstances do you "open yourself" or "let them in". That is all.

"I'm finally free! Freeeee! Muahahahaha!"

The head is from a Heresy Miniatures hellhound - I ordered one a while back and it was supposed to come with one head. I could request a specific one or make no request and receive a random one instead. I didn't mind which I got, so I didn't make a request, and the lovely people at Heresy sent me three options! Nice!

I will add an Imperial icon of some kind to the cocktail stick staff - I have a few eagle variations but I might use a spare bridge decoration piece of a Dark Angel from a BFG Retribution. That will hopefully both look good and tie it to the "this is a posessed/mutated Imperial citizen, not just a monster" theme.

Found some excellent bits for a staff, since I couldn't locate the BFG piece. I think this looks pretty good!

Any suggestions what I could add to continue the theme? I thought perhaps a cape?

I quite like the idea that he's a sanctioned psyker who, when he uses his powers, loses all recollection of what happens and wakes up with a chainsword that desperately needs oiling and a strong taste of blood in his mouth.

Yes I have been watching Moon Knight, how did you know?

My german brain read it as a bastardized plural form of "Messer", which is a knife. So it somehow fit right in with files and scalpels and dremels.
Could be a great name for a very, very, very cool german Metal or Punk Band, totally oblivious to the gentlemen part.

He's got those lovely straps across himself, why not add some bones or fetishes (the object, not the concept) there?

Flaming skull time!

A victim of a psychic blast, to be perched on the base.

I've also added an Inquisitorial seal and some bone fetishes, and a purity seal on the shoulder pad. I'm trying to visually push the "what is that?" idea - a loyal sanctioned psyker who's just been posessed, so incorporating imperial and demonic imagery.

"Aaargh a warp demon!"
"Sir, the demon is wearing an inquisitorial seal."
"Does... that mean... we ask it permission before shooting it?"
"I think it means we say thankyou when it eats our souls."

And now for something completely different!

Some flexibility in my lists for the Bolt Action DAK/8th Army - armoured cars!

The Daimler still needs more work, a few details to do and a bit more weathering, plus I haven't started the commander to sit on top, but not too bad progress considering I only finished building them last night.

My psyker has progressed a bit after my mild disaster of painting solvent based Tamiya acrylic paint on top of a water based Vallejo undercoat. They DID NOT PLAY NICE TOGETHER 😬

More pics once it's a bit further on.

He's got a winning smile. Looking forward to reading more about 'the Incident' in his backstory.
