Necromunda Stoof's Project Thread

Yes, that’s the classic RT era one with the chunky weapons and the helmet-less pilot!

The body thing is weird but it pulled double duty, narrow end down was for the Dreadnaught and narrow end top was the War Walker.

The base is pretty good and is actually quite in keeping with that era of model!! (It came with a 40mm square but people made custom bases back then for things)

@Stoof - I always liked that particular pilot but he was replaced by the 2nd Ed version by the time I got my War Walker in the 90s.

Except… I appear to have just accidentally purchased one (along with the rest of the War Walker) from eBay…

Comp time! Making something from a toy. A while back I bought this Lightyear ship, which is fairly close to the right scale, particularly if you count it as a personal flyer rather than a spacecraft. Some noble's sports speeder for terrorising the plebs.

So far I've added guns courtesy of spare Orlock sprues, some anti-gravity jets courtesy of some BFG launch bays, and a Mechanicus seal because this tech definitely isn't heresy.

I thought about removing the drums but decided that it looks like a quite efficient setup for a quick landing, some vassal to swap out the drums, then swift takeoff again to go and strafe the peasantry. Aerodynamic drag sounds like the corrupt machinations of Chaos anyway, something you should beat into submission by application of thrust rather than try to engineer out.

Colour scheme wise, I was partial to a spot of WipeOut as a lad, and particularly the Feisar scheme. So I may try and do this. But a bit battered and mucky.

Physical conversion wise I think I'll make some feet for the landing gear rather than keeping the wheels - landing on wheels doesn't strike me as very 40k/hivey. I'll probably make them slot on and off so I can still fold up the gear and play with the ship, because why wouldn't you 😁

That toy doesn’t half remind me of the Viper from Battlestar Galactica!!

Since Il Stoofle won a glorious victory at TribeMeet, he treated himself to a hot new ride - going up in the world, no more riding in trucks with the common soldiery!

Courtesy of @Pagumb - Grazie amico!

Edit: I should do some tiny flags for the wings.

Another print courtesy of @Pagumb - the M16/43 Celere Sahariano. A very promising Italian tank... But they only built one. And it didn't enter service before Italy had a change of heart. It'll fit right in with some of our other "alternative history" units that keep cropping up in the YakTribe version of North Africa.

My camo scheme is not authentic and is primarily intended to try and disguise print lines I didn't manage to file off.

Rules wise I'll probably treat it as a Semovente 105/25 or something.

Some TribeMeet Bolt Action terrain/scatter items kindly provided by @Pagumb and @ClockworkOrange - defences and a field kitchen.

The field kitchen print shifted on its print bed I think so the chimney is crooked and one wheel was elongated. The chimney didn't matter (damaged in the field) but the wheel was a bit obvious, so I hid it behind a barrel and crate to make its own little diorama.

The barricades are resin casts with the logs painted in a super easy dark brown with light dry brush and the rest simply coated in sand.

Plus rusty barrels, because everyone loves a barrel.

Paint jobs don't get much simpler than this, but I've been lacking the time and motivation to do much hobbying recently, so I'm going to count it as a win.

It's a slot together Ban Dai kit I picked up at a toy fair for a couple of quid months ago.

This is something which has been in the works for many years, three or four TribeMeets back it was going to be a thing we used for the event. It never panned out though.

I've been off work recovering from Norovirus however, and consequently bored whilst not visiting the porcelain confessional, so it finally got done...

The forbidden tray bake. Looks yummy 😋

Sadly inedible. But what could it be for?

There's 30 credits on the drum, for those who'll volunteer to come, to fight for Helmawr come what may, over the wastes and far away...

Shotgun and manstopper shells for me I think, the 5 credits change is going behind the bar at Ilya's.

Looks like a gigantic Gold Bar biscuit!!!

Pewter coinage is very cool though!!

If only you could spin cast 10 at a time!

(Note to self: if seeing one in the wild, disinfect in case it still harbours Nurgle’s bowel blaster)

Fun fact: The Austrian military still uses pretty much that model of field kitchen, and everyone calls it Gulaschkanone, so goulash cannon.

One of the few highlights of being out on maneuver, the food was surprisingly good.
I’m thinking of getting a WW2 field kitchen 3d print and Underhiving it up as a Not Dog cart.
