Stoof's Project Thread

I was just struck by the fact this thread has a Necromunda tag. They do say that every model is a Necromunda model, but I think it would take some effort to work these guys in...

Looking at the Saxons with Christian symbology and thinking I should read The Dream of the Rood to my eldest. Really cool work on the shields.

Four horsemen of the pillagocalypse finished off. I quite enjoyed painting the horses.

My mum (who used to work with horses) tells me I have done a Black, Bay, Dun and "not-quite-right" Dapple Grey. Everyone's a critic.

The "same" guys mounted and unmounted. I am happy with how copying the shield designs went.

The rest of the extras completed.

And the final warband! Around 1200 points if I fielded the lot

Just need to do a banner now. I hear good things about cut out bits of drinks can with printouts glued to it.

I think the original WD tip from days of yore was using the foil from a metallic tube, like the kind mustard comes in, if I recall correctly. Probably easier to cut than drinks can aluminium, but less durable as well.

I've just been using printer paper and PVA... Print your design, both sides so you can fold it around the pole, and soak it in PVA. It won't be as durable as metal sheet, but I haven't had any problems with durability.

That's what I just finished doing a few minutes ago.

Printed banner I found online. Folded and PVA'd, I'll PVA the outside a couple of times once it's dry.

Drinks can seemed like such a faff. If the banner gets wrecked I'll just do another one.

I’m pretty sure that’s how I did all my banners way back in the day. I can’t remember the last time I had to paint an actual banner.

It’s a good way of slicing your fingers and wrists up too! Even while playing!

I remember it was the foil from a tomato puree tube or if you’re really fancy - the foil from around wine bottles (80s wine bottles probably had better quality foil than today).

I didn’t have either in the day so tried it with the foil from a Pot Noodle lid. It worked but had an odd texture and I wouldn’t advise it as it’s too flexible.

@Stoof the way you’ve done it with printed paper and PVA is probably the easiest and safest and most replaceable. As long as the back of the paper is soaked through you can mould it into natural cloth shapes and when it dries it sticks like that.

I have heard of people using washi paper but it’s more akin to using it as a binder for printed flags.

Here’s an old video on banners: if you’re nuts enough to try it.

(probably not worth it unless you’re painting a display piece)

We are Worms, we're the best, and we've come to win the war.

We'll stand, we'll never run; stay until it's done.

Though our friends may fall and our world be blown apart,

We'll strike with all our might, we'll fight for what is right,

Till the end.

All done, including mines, supply crates and oil drums.

One day for the lot, haven't been that productive since I was knocking out Bolt Action armies during THE EVENT!

🎶Boggy B took cover, he shivered on patrol.
The arms race crazy, simply way out of control.

Then his friend threw it, the latest device.
Boggy B went and got it, against all advice. (What the...? 💥)🎶
