Stoof's Project Thread

Hmmmmm for scruffy Marian, the frostgrave soldiers plus a little of Stoof's Patent Gender Reassignment Sculpting (why does this happen so often?)...

Bit of green stuff for some scraggly tassels and longer hair... And I can use the other soldiers anyway. Might be onto a winner.

I can hunt down a more traditional Marian later if I feel the need.

I was thinking of Frostgrave, amongst other lines (Fireforge folk rabble or Wargames Atlantic villagers) because they do have good representation of women. Then you settle on using a male model anyway... To be fair, I have seen female heads used on those bodies. They're quite bundled up, so it's hard to tell.

To be fair, it’s not massively dissimilar to Kate Lonergan’s actual outfit in the TV series. Her Marion never dressed particularly feminine in the series (and they made jokes about it - mostly from Rotten Rose or in Series 4 when she had a short boyish haircut).

Just give it some shoulder chainmail.

Like I said, I think it could work, at least in isolation. On further thought though, I'm not sure how well it will fit next to Bertrand. He's quite skinny, while the Frostgrave figures are much bulkier (partly due to layers of clothing).

Is that Rowen Atkinson and Nigel Planer?!?
Left is a Tony Robinson best known as Baldric in Blackadder, next to him is Danny John-Jules AKA The Cat in Red Dwarf.

Chap at the back was in loads of stuff in the 80s and early 90s. One of which was the Kevin Costner Robin Hood film which they also make fun of in this series.

If you’ve not seen Maid Marion and her Merry Men give it a go! It’s kinda like Blackadder for children’s TV but way more surreal.

Marian finished. My brush matte varnish dried gloss, it seems I probably need to give it a really good shake and try again.

And this is my youngest's Robin Hood (he's 5 1/2). He built him from the frostgrave soldier sprue with a bit of help. He did the block colours and I neatened/washed/highlighted it.

He also built four more he's decided are the Sheriff of Nottingham, Little John and a solder of the Sheriff's. He was enjoying himself anyway.

The arms are a bit wonky and I helped position the heads but it's a really good effort!

I'd say it's a good effort. I'm a big fan of the Xgrave lines, but that's the oldest kit and I find some of the arms a bit wonky too...
