Hello!

This is probably a very niche recruitment message, but I would like to share nonetheless.

Myself and several others had been playing both Necromunda and Necromunda: Community Edition for the past year on Tabletop Simulator and Discord. Now, we are starting up a Necromunda: Underhive & Gang War campaign and you are invited!

If you would like to participate, whether you are new or a veteran, feel free to join the Discord link below and sign up with the Google Forms Sign Up Sheet!

This is the thriving Necromunda community specific to Tabletop Simulator that is part of the largest 40k Tabletop Simulator community.
@mention either Commi#0392 or Taikkuus#1257 and we can get you on your feet with the campaign starting soon.

Campaign Rules and Information
- Campaign Rules
  1. When choosing your scenario, you can choose to use "Zone Mortalis" (the game tiles) or "Sector Mechanicus" (normal 3d maps) - if both players can't agree, roll off and the winner chooses the map type, then follow the rules on how to build the ZM map, or choose a SM map that fits both players (or choose randomly if no agreement can be made on which map to use). If you're not sure where to find a good map, you can check out the Necromunda Collection on the workshop: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=974818183
  2. If any official rules are updated mid-campaign (ex: new Gang Wars book is released), they will by default not apply to the campaign. Any rules updates or FAQs will be approved and implemented on a case-by-case basis (end of Cycle at the earliest, probably end of Turf War/"Season")
  3. Each "Cycle" will last 1 week starting, ending each Sunday night at 10PM CST(UTC-6). You should try to get at least one game in per cycle, but can play as many as you want. The "Turf War" will last either 3 or 4 cycles, which will be determined sometime during Cycle 2 depending on when people will be available for the big "Apotheosis" battle.
  4. You may only have one gang in this season/"Turf War". You may retire your gang at the end of the season following the rules provided in the Gang War book.

House-rule Information (12/19/17)
  1. Grenade Launchers are changed to a base cost of 80 in the Trading Post and 70 in the Goliath/Cawdor/Van Saar/Delaque House Equipment Lists - this price does not include any grenades. All Grenade Launcher "Special Ammo" prices are replaced with the prices from the Grenades section. When equipping a model with a Grenade Launcher, you must specify whether any grenades they have are Ammo (used in the launcher) or Wargear (used by throwing), you may change this designation in the Distribute Equipment step of the Post-Battle Sequence.
  2. You may only equip ONE non-Specialist Ganger-type with a Special Weapon. If a Ganger becomes a Specialist, they gain the ability to use Special Weapons in addition to the one non-Specialist Ganger-type
  3. We will not be using the "Equipment Sets" rules and you may freely trade your equipment between gangers in the Distribute Equipment step of the Post-Battle Sequence.

As you know, it is a physics engine and simulator where you can import objs/pngs to bring models into the game and then can manipulate the models similar to a real-world experience. Myself and a few others produce models using programs like Blender by either using models imported from other games, GarrysMod, or even models that have been made from scratch. A combination of being able to easily convert models, build maps, and play in a 3d engine means that the game plays very well.

I've been playing Necromunda, 40k, and Lord of the Rings Strategy Battlegame on Tabletop Simulator for the past year to great success. There are a lot of players who use it as well. The only problems are
  • If the map-maker doesn't bother to do a very simple collision fix to their terrain, but that is easy enough to repair yourself with the tap of a button.
  • You cannot fit the camera into objects which means sometimes drawing line of sight can be difficult, but our group has gotten very good at knowing how to check line of sight in those situations. Fortunately there are also some functionalities where you can create a camera in-game that will create a view feed and you can shove that into the cramped spots. But all this is basically like playing IRL.

I rate my experience: 7/8, it's great mate. The developers of Tabletop Simulator evolve the game overtime so there have been massive improvements in the past year, namely Gizmo.

I've effectively restarted my Custom Models progress and have finished Cawdor and moving on to remastering my Escher collection, building mine from kitbashes of other models and my own photoshop and blender work. Another has done mass-rips from Killing Floor to produce models which look like they're from our time period. Most members kitbash existing 40k content with pretty good results. There is a link above that leads you to a collection of all the Necromunda content in one place!

When do you plan to start? How long are the cycles? Do you have a limit on additional games past the 1st in a cycle?

Updated the Original Post with campaign information that is pinned in the discord:

The campaign has started but only two gangs have played so far.

Sounds great. I'll sign up later this week. I'll use Legacy Orlock rules with some Arbite models I found, and call them a poorly funded Enforcer precinct.

We are in Apotheosis this week, next Monday starts the new Turf War. Perfect chance to join in!

I am 925 rating, 5 fighters with 1 leader and 1 champion included in that 5. I am 4/5 perma-losses in this campaign. It's been a wild ride, but Phoenix Down doesn't back down until I submit to my 10-year stale abysmal rolling.

I dispute your 10 year streak of abysmal rolling. I was just lucky I basically outnumbered you 2-1 to soak up your hot dice with lots of bodies. :)

Well, first-time against opponents is typically an anomaly. Don't worry, it'll reset.
It took my statistical anti-prowess to put me in our 5 v 11 situation.

Yeah, it has been on hiatus since I've been back in Uni - but if someone else acts as arbitrator we have plenty of people willing.

Yeah, we have folks playing Tabletop Simulator campaigns right now - last I saw the Arbitrator was looking for one more. If all else fails, folks may rise to the occasion to participate in another campaign!
