For my information, what are those floating skulls supposed to be ? (I can see them on several minis from different manufacturers).

They are servo skulls. It's basically a human skull that's cyberneticaly altered to fulfill a task that can vary from targeting array, weapon reloading (as in this instance), relaying public notifications, taking notes or anything else that might be necessary. They are usually single function. They are unique to 40k.
