Necromunda The ClockworkOrange Troll Lol Lol Lol Song

I always wanted to do ash wastes inspired by fordite - the mineral formed in spray shops with the run off of paint over spray caking up in multi-coloured layers, it thought it would make an interesting kind of industrial hellscape.

It’s a bit of a lean year for the Troll, in truth I’ve stepped back from the Hobby quite a bit. The Ashwastes Nomad project stalled because I couldn’t decided on a colour scheme. 🤷‍♂️

Anyhow I think this might help me get back in the groove, I want to build a quick and cheap airfield for Trollbruk.

They come ready painted so the plan is to paint out the “Fighter” graffiti with grey paint, add a yellow nose and tail, and give them quick light drybrush and call them done. I’ve got 3 so far with another 3 on order, total cost about £25.

Building wise I’m going to knock up 2 corrugated card hangers, a couple of shacks, a control tower, a concrete/asphalt runway and a rough access road or two. Nothing complicated and stuff I can make from things I’ve already got laying around for very few pennies!

Hopefully that will reinvigorate the Troll 🤞

Edit - El @Stoof is already questioning if the planned paint scheme is theatre appropriate, so let’s just say they are flying in the Panzerfausts!

Wasn't Trollbruk the home of that exiled armaments expert who upscaled some panzerfausts and turned at least one Messerschmitt into a close support, ground attack fighter? I think it had a centerline autocannon with wing mounted panzerfausts...can't remember if they were straight across the undersides of the wings or in clusters... (actual panzerfaust plane use results may vary)

I know they aren't exactly expensive, but if you wrap the camo net one in cling film and make the net/tarp out of a pva soaked baby wipe or kitchen towel, you should be able to create a hollow cover which looks like it has a plane under it, yet still be able to retrieve the plane for use elsewhere.

Ahhh Walter von Dunkelgelb? The renowned German weapon scientist and camouflage expert! good point.

That's the one. I'm sure I've read somewhere that many veterans who fought in and around Trollbruk shared their fear of the Dunkelschmitt with some noting that "...no one wanted to be Dunked on."

Knocked these up over the weekend having looked at the silly prices for MDF ones. Made from thick recycled cardboard doubled up for strength.

I’ve ran out of the corrugated card, although I did waste a lot trying individual panels about an inch square that looked far to Orky, I think itll look better as one sheet.

The bodging continues, works have stopped whilst I await some ABS tubing for the top of the hanger doors, I’m going for a top rail that they slide in which seems to be a very period look.

I’ve also ordered a 28mm zombie prisoner tower for the control tower, it’s a very cheap MDF kit but it should give me the basic structure to detail up. There’s only a few actual WW2 kits knocking around and again they seem to be silly expensive.
