Yep. Also it was a really good game. Sadly GW murdered it by stating before it went on sale that they would never be providing ongoing support and it was a one off product with only a few narrative scenarios in it.
Clearly honesty wasn’t the best policy.

Hence their current policy of not telling you. Or going full Shadow War and promising support and then reluctantly releasing a few PDFs. I think they still regret that one as it was a much bigger hit than they thought and had to backtrack to create extra consolidated rulebooks.

Honestly if it’d been Necromunda it would’ve been cool. It’s not like they’re above invalidating the supplied rules anyway so they still could have gone full N18.

The current (Dec 2021) issue of Miniature Wargames magazine comes with a code for a free download of Deadzone 3rd edition from Mantic (normally retailing at £25).

Frostgrave players might be interested to know that Northstar have Blood Legacy (the latest supplement) at £12:

A bit annoying, since I only bought it a couple of weeks back (not at full price, but more than that I think).

I'm not entirely sure whether this is a sale or a price change, but I thought it worth noting that EM4 have lowered the price of their already cheap one-piece orcs and dwarfs.

The sets that were £14.99 (for 48-50 models!) are now only £10.66 (plus p&p). They may not be the nicest models out there, but surely they must be some of the cheapest (for 'proper miniatures' in ~28mm scale). Great for massed battle systems like Kings of War, Oathmark, WFB, etc.

I think the uniform look suits the dwarfs better than the orcs, but I've seen some surprisingly varied looking armies made with a few weapon swaps, shields, etc.

Here are some old examples: http://combatzonechronicles.net/cozoxb/orcsy.htm
(They were £7.50 for 50, but that was 10-15 years ago...)

It just occurred to me that if you want a chaos dwarf army, then you can get yourself three units of dwarfs and three units of greenskins for under £22 (excl. p&p). They would easily be enough for Dragon Rampant, with models leftover...

Agreed. I shouldn’t want those dwarves but I do. Reminds me I have a good number of dwarves I should locate and review before buying anymore…

I stumbled across a swamp barge from a supplier from Spain on ebay today and thought that it might also be of interest to others:

P.S.: Otherwise I have nothing to do with it and am not connected to the provider.
The barge is nice but it would be a pain to remove all the rocks from the hull it looks like.

I found some toy boats at the supermarket that are big and the right scale: "Green Toys Ferry Boat" Made from recycled plastic, whee. I found another boat used that is still being made, even bigger, but can't find pictures now. Painting boats to look old is fun because of all the rust effects and green slime buildup you can do.

Northstar have Kromlech's official Frostgrave terrain range on offer at the moment:

I haven't really done MDF terrain before, and I'm not sure how keen I am on it, but I ordered myself a couple of bits.

What helps a lot in fleshing them out is adding little gubbinz.

Hanging chains or guitar wire. Pieces form the Final Faction accessory packs from the Dollar Tree

Also, at the hardware store, you can get mesh drywall tape that has an adhesive. It's a grid, and is really great for adding a texture to plain floors and walkways. Pieces of thin cloth, tissue, or paper towel soaked in a glue/water mixture and draped over some bamboo skewers make good awnings.

Not to mention bits left over from plastic kits. The Gallowdark terrain kit has lots of little panels that work great anywhere. A barrel on a walkway or roof, a lasgun or bolter propped in a corner. If you have a 3D printer, you can knock out some AC units, or random tech panels, holotables, generators, etc..

Lastly, a little weathering goes a long way. A sponge with brown paint along edges. Some streaking from top edges. Add some posters. If you painted with a light color, you can do custom graffiti with sharpie markers.

It's all about adding a few little details that add a bit more immersion into your terrain. Be creative and have fun. There's no wrong answer.

Is it weird to mention here how cool that Final Faction stuff really is? You've got really affordable fake GI Joes with tons of accessories to buy for pocket money...

Would've loved that as a kid (and the bad guy turrets would work great in a 'nid style army)

Yeah Gunkaiser I have gotten a lot of Final Faction from the Dollar (.25) Tree, it's great. The action figures are sup par but as conversion fodder it is great.

On the bug 'turrets' I removed the launching turret part and primed them white, they look great already.

Some of the weapon packs have good chainsaw type blades and power claws.

The vehicle packs are a lot of plastic for the money and I'm planning some kind of land train with detachable cars.

The good guy mech turrets are another thing I really stocked up on but not to run stock, I like the legs for walker robots and the top part for terrain.
