I don't believe that Nostalgia should be used as a negative here...I mean the phrase "If it ain't broken don't fix it" applies to many current and dead wargames. No war game is perfect...well Guild Ball was 99% but that's a whole other topic. Disagree? Fite me.

But both old and current Newcromunda have glaring issues. I enjoy the base gang models more now (Many do, as at least they are easily convertible) I enjoy the gameplay (minus cards) from Newcromunda, but the old Necromunda has 100% better after battle sequences.

It's rough cause we are all clearly very passionate about this stupid game but GW just can't catch that magic like specialist games used to have...oh wait they did. Shadow War should have just continued...

Despite Shadow War being a bit of an unbalanced mess, I have a reocurring thought of organising a campaign for it. It was a very enjoyable game despite its flaws.

As Old vs New Necromunda, I also find the gameplay on the table to be more lively in the Newmunda due to alternative activations. Also bigger probability of a Flesh wound is welcome However, it was much easier to get into melee in the old one. For some reason GW game designers are taking every possible decision to make melee system as awkward and hard to use as possible.

As an self proclaimed Shadow War enthusiast, I'd say give it a go with the great expanded campaign rules that are on this site. And correct Shadow War could be broken if you play with asshats but if you're trying to tell a cool story in a destroyed city or the underbelly of a hive 40k 2nd edition/Shadow War/Necromunda can't be beat.

Yeah wtf is GW doing when it comes to melee...

I was thinking SWAg would be nice to play if you got slightly more unit variety in some of the Kill teams. DE with Wyches *and* Kabalites...

Agreed and expanding the unit roster for each faction is actually super easy to do. Would love to work on expanding each factions unit roster, for instance the fact that Tyranid's never included broodlord/genestealer hunt pack or FREKKING lictors...Blows my mind!!! Moving some of the "Specialist" to the unit roster fixes many misbalancing for some factions as well. Also Adapting vehicle rules from 2nd edition is wicked fun and I wish GW would have made like a "Shadow War: (Insert warzone here)" article in White Dwarf every month to include new rules. It's not like it didn't sell well...it sold out world wide within like 20min.

I thought for a long time that new Necromunda has been influenced more by video games, Borderlands in particular.
Actually given how they’ve gone mad on making unique house styled weapons it’s surprising that they’re not more like Borderlands weapon manufacturers. Cawdor being a bit of an exception.

I would actually love this (not... in Necromunda, it's not built to sustain that kind of detail at all, but as a general idea). Now if only there were bitz around that could pass for specific manufacturers' guns. Not a lot of people making Atlas-style pistols and rocket launchers.

Speaking of which, Czech out my plaerg to help me out with a tricky bitz-identifying puzzle. You'd make an old man a young man a middle-aged man a man of the nameless age profile very happy.

Not sure where to put this on the forum so I’ll slip it into the Sump.

If you can’t see the post it’s a company selling boxed sets of cards for Necromunda. Reproduction sets.

Not sure how GW will react to that but it’s certainly a bold move on their part!

GW won't sell more of the cards they forgot they made. What cards are these anyway? These come in packs of 45, what about the rest (there are currently 340)? And what's those wyrd power cards, that's 40k? Looks like it is the original clunky GW size, can't believe how people are willing to accept those. Also strictly abiding to the official artwork, which people also seem to adore, but to me is quite worthless. Serviceable for sure, but nothing I would miss.

I don’t know but from what I can see from the back of the box on the second image it seems to read:

“This box contains all the gang tactics and the rest of the common tactics that did not fit in the first two volumes.”

I can’t really read the smaller text below.

Considering that’s probably the Chaos Cult box... how many gang tactics did they have? 3?

I can see quite a few fighter cards there so I imagine they’re easier to write on than a playing card size.

Also some tactics cards have quite a bit of text. I imagine playing card or magic cards means reducing font size considerably which isn't for everyone. Of all the issues I have with GWs tactics cards - card size isn't one of them.

I tried to count and so far I have come up with at least 21 Necromunda card packages. In addition, there will probably be HoB versions for Cawdor and Delaque, a total of 23. In addition, cards from WHC and WD, as well as from the Underhive Box and Dark Uprising. And of course your individual fighter cards for your gangs.

That's a huge amount!

A certain card size is okay for easier handling and legibility. But with so many cards, I see the difficulty more in storing and managing them. One more reason why I like the alternative dice tables in HoB for events.

...As you can see, the sump inhabitants are quietly lying in wait, eager to pick apart and ridicule the new updates for house Cawdor. Truly ferocious and terretorial creatures!

also I made this during downtime, had no idea where to post it here.

ROLL UP, ROLL UP SUMP BINGO BEGINS SOON!!

Here’s your cards, now, let’s see if anyone gets a full shanty this month.

  • Weapon option too expensive to even bother with.
  • Monopose Champ with very little extra in options.
  • Decorative base object for someone to stand on.
  • One bare foot.
  • Object added in a manner that takes up more sprue than it should.
  • A flying stand.
  • A random pet.
  • Pointless fluffy weapon.
  • Weapon option on sprue is the most expensive of the ones for that fighter.
  • Optional flame spouts all over the sprue.
  • One model inexplicably in more than 6 parts.
  • A random skull.
