Necromunda The Sump: General hobby venting thread (Beware: old men shouting at clouds)

Just having a grumble. It’s Super annoying when they can put three in a pack with a human sized figure several times except on the occasion that it would be useful to do so.

All they had to do is drop the size down roughly 20%. Easy to do on a computer.

Such an odd decision. Plus they did that for Beastmasters twice!!

@Pagumb I do have a Classic Beastmaster (with Ripperjacks) so I guess I’m ok on that front, though getting a few pets for him would be nice!!

You can use any Psyker model as anything really… so the specifics are nice but not necessary.

I have used some rat/dog skeletons as Rats in the past and some Tyranid Rippers as Milliasaurs. All pretty useful stand-ins.
Wouldn't want to buy them 20% smaller, but they could easily have made 3 in original size any way.

Well, those new Admech snipers-on-stilts aren't the worst models GW has come out with recently (that, of course, goes to the Cawdor mechanical legs vehicles), but they're certainly belong in the discussion of worst models. Steampunk meets Mardi Gras Parade... Perhaps one of the GW miniature designers took a holiday to Burning Man, and the dry desert air combined with the substance abuse made him think this would be a good idea for a model.

So, is GW repeating the problem it had in the old Gang War version of Necromunda with these Aranthian Succession books? Warcom's previews this week describe the next Aranthian Succession book as the "concluding volume." Does this mean that (for those who care about vehicles & Ash Wastes - to be clear not me) these books will have released new vehicles for everyone except Delaque? Correct me if I'm wrong because I haven't been keeping up with these books, but recalling how obnoxious it was to have the Delaque shoved into an afterthought White Dwarf article after they were left out of the Gang War series, this seems like deja vu all over again.

I just read it and am drawing a similar conclusion.

Delaque will get another shitty free release.

At a guess there will be another consolidated book for vehicles similar to “gangs of the Underhive” book, before we get individual codexes for gang vehicles with extra gang specific vehicle stuff.

You really need to think how you can milk more dollars out of the same content.

The Delaque were mentioned in one of the Apocrypha as crew etc. there were no vehicles for them.

It was suspected at the time that was it for them. There seems to be some weird thing going on with Delaque. Frankly I’m surprised they got included in the Hive War box.

That’s a possibility. TBH its just stupid that Gang specific vehicles were included in these overarching campaign books.

As a campaign I have no issues with it being themed and over several volumes, not do I have any issues with campaign specific characters or vehicles etc.

I do take issue with including stuff that really should’ve been in Book of the Outlands or similar.

Oof. Just oof.

I know GW doesn't go for pragmatism in it's models but a guy with a sniper rifle on stilts is dumb even for them.

Why would a stealthy model (the article mentions it has the stealth rule) want to be so big and conspicuous? How does a model balanced on two thin, giant legs absorb the recoil from their weapon without knocking themselves over?

I was thinking the same thing, @ntw3001. No one in the home game that newcromunda is based on had any passion for them.

Funny thing, I really liked Delaque back in the late 90s, when we bought the game. But a friend got to them before me, so I went a different way. To this day, I've never played a game with them.

Maybe nobody at the studio has any enthusiasm for Delaque so they end up at the baque of the que. At some point maybe they could be squatted zoated fimired :0
Maybe they painted themselves into the corner with their sneaky Psyker theme and now can’t think of what to do with them??

As interesting as space Nosferatu is (not that much really), I think I preferred baldy trenchcoat Gangers, you could at least go anywhere with them rather than be stuck with some vampire aesthetic that they don’t even really use.

Yeah, some of my favorite old game match ups were against a good friend who played Delaque, and he played them perfectly. Slow, cautious, denying me line of sight while positioning himself to step around a corner and pick me off once I'd extended myself. I've been very disappointed by the obvious xeno/psyker route they've taken in the modern game. I would have been happier with a ranged stealth gang plus creepy sneaky bald guys in coats.

I liked the new trench coats but not the men wearing them, or the comically oversized suppressors, or the flying squids, or the brain exploding psyker. They were my favourite gang back in the day but they are clearly the runt of the litter in the new world.

I actually liked the new models quite a bit at first. My only gripes were that one awkward falling backwards with a grenade pose and the lack of models holding long guns. But then the psyker thing happened. I have a box of the Prospect/Specialist Champs but I haven't had any interest in building them. I'm not sure what they are but they really don't feel like anything remotely Delaque to me.

Delaque could have been easily served with a sleek limousine not much unlike the one GSC got back in the day with tinted windows.

They had a simple job with the Ash Wastes setting and GW blew it. Release a bunch of rusted muscle cars/dirt bikes with post-apocalyptic bitz and House-specific transfer sheets like you would see in HH 2.0. However Mad Max-style cars can´t be IP protected thus decisions were made to release stuff nobody would even try to copy. That´s how you get Goliath lawnmower and Cawdor junk walkers. A lawyer´s wet dream and a player´s worst nightmare.

I thought I saw something that looked like a limo in a release photo the other day, though I can’t remember what or where.

Problem with the Delaque is that they just seem uninspired. Like someone saw Trenchcoats and thought “The Matrix” and then every accessory they got looks like it’s escaped from the machine world.

Our Trenchcoat boys predated that by four years and if I was to associate a machine controlled future with them I’d say they’re more like Kyle Reece in The Terminator.

They’re stealthy, keeping to the shadows, using the big coat to hide their guns before blasting their target.

The new ones look like the love child of a vampire and a grey alien.
