Necromunda The Sump: General hobby venting thread (Beware: old men shouting at clouds)

That's a pretty hefty bout of cuts. I was going to use Iron Golems and Spire Tyrants to make my Jazon and the Aggronauts gang, by the time I get round to it they'll be scalper specials.

Yes, yes, I *could* buy them now so I have them for when the time comes, but now that they've announced they're being cut I feel that by buying them I'm giving undeserved positive reinforcement to GWs shittiest practices - in this case "announce slow selling models are being scrapped so people panic buy them".

So if anyone wants those Chaos cultists for conversion purposes then they’d better get in quick before they go OOP.

Shame that the ranges are getting trimmed, I wonder if it’s just a case of reducing their load again??

TBH I’d rather they culled 90% of the Space Marine ranges to free up machine time and kept the more interesting sculpts in circulation.

“But they’re the best selling models!!”

Then rename your shops from Warhammer to Astartes and just sell Horus Heresy.

No??

Well then, you don’t need 15 different flavours of Marine, just make an upgrade sprue or something. *grumble grumble *

Shame the Iron golems are on their way out - they make excellent conversion fodder for Pit Slaves. Although TBF I bought them 2nd hand when I used them, just means eBay prices will go up.

Hmm- I was looking at Tarantalus Brood to make some sort of Sump Spider-hunting/worshipping Outcasts. Might have to jump on that soon then.

That’s a private group.

Thought it was public.

The poster is complaining about his Orc Command group pre-order being cancelled and refunded, due to GW not being able to ship in a timely manner. A few others posted screenshots of similarly worded emails.

Oh crap... Disappointed about Beasts of Chaos as been meaning to get a Warcry band built for a while.
Put off due to expenses as is as your units Gors/Ungors/Bestigors and Bullgors if bought as boxes is going to cost alot when you only want 8-10 of the models.

Though I guess they will be repackaged for old world (with appropriate mark up)... But may just go bitz box at this point.

Annoyingly most of the retired stuff for chaos is all the Warcry stuff (the only AoS I care about.) Not so much the warbands but some of the stuff like Cygor/Ghorgon are featured under Monster rules.

Also Branchwych for sylvaneth Warcry though it's a pretty terrible model.

Generally not a good update Warcry wise.

I just see all of GW's shenanigans in comparison to most other mini providers out there *not* doing this. If other suppliers are doing this, it's typically because the company is going under and the models are no longer available because the company doesn't exist.

I would hope that people get introduced to alternative mini providers to avoid the disappointment of seeing a potential hobby project be stopped in its tracks in future.

When Warcry first came out, I saw the warbands and really wanted to do something with them (mostly NCE conversions). Then I couldn't afford them, then they weren't available to buy, and now they're going the long drop - GW are really helping me save my money, here.

I've seen a few people moaning on FB about what they're going to do with their savage orcs and beastmen (or whatever). It's tempting to point out that there are plenty of other (non-GW) games out there, where those models will always be usable. I suspect such comments wouldn't be particularly welcome in GW-focused groups though....

You can´t help stubborn people even with good advice. Let them wallow in their misery.

I think I'm kinda done buying new stuff (maybe a few more Sisters units and any Squats/Orks I end up needing if I paint up what I have). Haven't painted anything since the YakSanta barring some terrain for a mate. Just not enough time and it's competing with Helldivers 2/Stardew Valley/etc. Might get more excited if my Armigers ever show up.

Yeah I think the last time I bought something new model wise from GW was the Hive Market Place kit maybe 2 years ago, which to be fair is an awesome kit, but even then I bought it from a discounted web reseller. All of my recent projects have used 3D printing, EBay purchases of old usually out of production GW models or other suppliers like Warlord. GW only gets the Trolls money for paint, but even then I use other manufacturers as well.

GW models are just too expensive and also very time consuming to build and paint due to even rank and file models being overly detailed and split into a million pieces. There must be still people buying them en masse but I do wonder how many actually get built and finished. It’s a physical impossibility to keep up with the new shinny release schedule of grey plastic doom if you are making and painting everything.
