Necromunda The Sump: General hobby venting thread (Beware: old men shouting at clouds)

With the return of a lot of Trish Carden's old stuff (so happy to get that shaman on wyvern I wanted since I was a kid) I am expecting Eltharion on Stormwing to appear as a made to order model.

Agree that the IofB grffon should have returned. Probably a good reason though. Maybe the moulds were knackered. I suspect that's why the reavers were redone, although then why no griffon? Guess we'll wait and see what happens.

Yeah, I guess they were planned to return but then there was an issue of some kind. I ended up making my own from stuff and things.

The only thing about ToW range that I'm sumpy about is no sign of the Middenheim upgrade sprue that used to come with the Militia when they were boxed for Mordheim. I'd love to be able to rebuild my Middenheim warband. I wonder how much - or even if - people will sell single sprues of the other regiments? It'd be fun to finally do a Reiklander team based around them.

I might have a few Middenheim limbs left in my bitz box, but I'm not sure...
perhaps there's a few off-brand 'barbarian' miniatures or chaos marauders you could cannibalise?

Middenheim sprue is in the knights box.

Going to order some more brushes soon as a lot of my older ones are getting tired now - probably going to get some Rosemary & Co. again as they were always good brushes.

As a public informational thing; I did remember than R&Co. essentially make the Artis Opus brushes for them under licence. So they’re not the exact same ones as R&Co sell as the handles are slightly different shapes. However as a useful guide for bristles:

Series M = R&Co Series 323
Series S = R&Co Series 33
Drybrush = R&Co Model Drybrush

Just search the R&Co site with those names to find them. They’re usually half the price of AO and do just as good a job.

The Drybrush are a similar price either way but Rosemary is just a tad cheaper.

Of course other brushes are available but those are pretty good!!

Wow. Games Workshop's pricing has done it again. High elf pre-orders are up (some of them at least) and they want £85 for that ghastly Merwyrm and the transfer sheet (one of the things I was planning on ordering for the Dragon Prince banners) is £23, for something worth about a fiver. Yeah no thanks. The Reavers are also priced at the higher £52.50 mark rather than the £40 for cavalry units for the other armies, this is definitely making me rethink what I was planning on buying. Oh and half the stuff is sold out already, surely the point of pre-orders is so you know how many to make?

There's also a lot of stuff not available to order yet, no hero box, no mage box, no Seaguard, no chicken chariot, no phoenix guard or phoenix. Looks like my wallet is safe for this month at least.

Aren't they new? If so, somewhat understandable that they'd cost more than older models. But the general pattern isn't doing anything to excite my interest in TOW.

Somewhat new. How much they're the old isle of blood sculpts and how much is new is questionable, the champion for example looks to be the exact same pose as the IoB one for example. Even if they're 100% new it still makes them significantly more expensive than an equivalent unit for Empire or Bretonians, it just stops being good value for money and feels like they're deliberately over pricing the one new unit that most veteran High Elf players don't have in plastic (unless they bought multiple copies of IoB) and so are most likely to stump up the cash for.

So they are doing what Disney parks do. Get rid of the poor and keep the whales. It's a price war.

I m also annoyed by the majority of reinforcement box for necromunda. Too many pets per leader, champions, prospect... But never enough pet per box.

Last example the champion box of the squat only two techmite.

I use the gryphound as a proxy for Esther's phelinx but for techmite?

Give us box of pet!
