Hello!

We decided with our friends to try out Necromunda and I have to say that it really have got me in its grip.

So some may have seen me in other forum prying for Fantasy battle music. Here is a link to my "main thread" which has sub links for other forums.Loriel's Music Thread in case any of you wants to contribute to some other themes or are looking for music to fulfill your other wargame desires ;)

Anyway I want to learn about bands and songs to listen while playing Necromunda.

Interesting topic, indeed! I usually listen to music while playing, but I don't think it's the kind that works well for necro "mood music".
But I think it should be somewhat ambient and electronic, perhaps. Massive Attack could also work (or most trip-hop).

I once left BBC Radio 3 on whilst playing Necromunda on a Sunday and ended up listening to some classical harpsichord stuff for a surprisingly long time before I realised what was going on and turned it off.

Anyway, that's probably something to avoid.

One of my friends and I like to try and find stuff from the mid-late 90s to listen to whilst we play in an attempt to evoke our misspent childhoods. Ash, Oasis, Manic Street Preachers, etc. Doesn't really match the cyberpunk/ gothic themes of the game, but it's quite a blast from the past.

Anything that gets you in the mood to punch a cop doesn't work well for gaming someone. Our friendly all round nerd store has Street Fighter and roll players in the back ground causing us to zone out.

Sometimes, you will OOA a ganger just as you hear KAY OWE from Street Fighter. 8)

I like the kind of brooding city vibe to games, or (not to sound like a beardy arsehole) songs that make you reflect on how utterly futile a Necromundans existence is. I like a relaxed feel, with an undercurrent of menace!

This one is also awesome. Any guitarists out there will snap their hands off after seeing this guy play lol!

And this cos as the name suggests, it makes me think of driving through a city at nighttime lol!

I made this general Playlist for spotify. It is just preliminary list and I intend to get many more songs in it ;)

I have chosen songs for the primal drums / scifi ambient flavor. I also didn't want too many songs with very fast and intensive battle flavors. I also try to avoid singing.

I decided to cut out "hi scifi / cyberpunk" songs from generic music list. IMO They fit as Van Saar themes.

So far most songs are from:
- Ascend: Hand of Kull (excellent album for Necromunda)
- Borderlands
- Gears of War

Feel I should contribute as Musics my job! As already mentioned I find film/game scores work well. Two of my favourites at the moment are the music from the latest Tron movie and there's some really cool atmospheric music in the original alien movie.
There's always Star Wars but the problem is its so iconic you end up thinking your in the wrong universe....

Anything Hans Zimmer has done is gold. He's the modern day Ennio Morricone. Probably best to stay away from the Lion King though. And Thelma and Louise.
