Third season - new edition, 2025

continuing the thoughts from the end of the other thread.... I like multi rerolls in a turn. I've also come ruond to the idea of a passing stat, although I wish it was a 2d6 stat to even it out a little more (good passing could then start at 4+ or similar on 2dice

I never bothered with the 2020/Second Season set, but wasn't too keen on most of the changes.

Splitting Passing from Agility isn't a terrible idea in principle. It does make Throwers more useful. But it seemed to me most Throwers had poor Passing stats. (And I'd probably have wanted Elves to be slightly better too.)

A couple of things from the WarCom article...

I don't recall ever finding much confusion on these points (unless GW introduced some in 2020).

One terminological change I'd definitely like is distinguishing more clearly between a Block Action and a Block (which can also be part of a Blitz). I can't think of a particularly good term off the top of my head - maybe just 'hit' - but this would be useful.

I'd also like to see a change to 'Prone' since - everywhere besides BB - it usually means face down. Although it looks like that's not changing, going by:

I think it ironic that in 2016 GW made the minis and bases (and pitches) bigger. Now they say things get confusing as a result and introduce status markers to help reduce that.

Maybe if they hadn't made things bigger in the first place, the problem would never have occurred. And we could still use smaller pitches.

(I'm saying this because I already had a bunch of teams that are now on a smaller scale. I'd probably have bought several of the newer teams, if they fitted my existing collection. But, since they don't, I haven't bought any...)

I think I will buy the new digital rulebook and decide from there.

It sounds like decent tweaks, for now - we´ll see. So I am not against this. 2020 to 2025 is.. Not the worst. i can live with that. Even though i have barely played, lol.. A three year cycle feels like nothing to me..

It needed a bit of clariifying. Keywords will be good. it seems alright to me. Was it needed? Not really. Will it make it better. Yeah i think so, a little..

Now.. The roster-changes.. What have you done to my Black Orc team?? :D

2016 was just very minor compared to community edition that lasted for around a decade before that. That was just GW testing the feedback of supporting BB again. 2020 was the proper GW edition, I tried to make a list of changes but it was so many things that changed. I'm very detail focused, so if you just gloss over you might summarize it has a handfull of key changes (PA stat, no limit on 1 re-roll per turn) but in reality it might have been 100+ changes in total.

Not sure what this is going to be, probably no more changes to amount of stats? There's a dice in a photo I don't recognize. I'm guessing random changes all over the place (stats, skills, tables, actions ++).

I’m going to really have to ask myself, is it worth buying just for pitch and the great looking mummies to swap out for the stupid running ones?

I like this a whole lot more than the 2nd season set, I’m not sure I like it enough (it’s going to be at least 80 quid right?)

2nd season looks a better deal to me, aside from the fact the rules will soon be outdated.

I was wondering whether somewhere might be flogging them off cheap soon...

I just checked and Second Season is £100 RRP. I don't expect Third to be less than that, though it will be cheaper through third party sellers.

Depends what's in the box, but based on what I've seen it should be cheaper.

The second edition box contained two teams, plus two big guys (one per team), plus two star players (one per team), plus two refs.

As far as I can see, the new edition box contains two teams, and the new status markers.

That's why I thought 2nd season looked a better deal. But I don't expect the new box to be cheaper, just because there's less in it. Remember, prices are going up generally.

Perhaps it will be the same price rather than more expensive (a form of shrinkflation to absorb cost increases). Or just maybe they might make it £95 or something, if they think under £100 is a significant deal for customers. But I'd be surprised if it's less than that. Certainly not an RRP of £80 (given the two teams would be £66 on their own, even if not hit by the coming price rises).

Blood Bowl is still alive and kicking. NOT complaining about that!
The stupid rumor was stupid. The pitch size ain't changed. I have A LOT of pitches. Was not and would not change now! So, they kept the pitch perfect! All good.

Isn’t their rumours of a big GW price increase coming anyway??

I’m sure I saw a video title about it.

games workshop big price increase rumour? i thought that was just their buisness model.
i remember (years ago) telling a club member that i would never spend more tham 6 pence on a human sized figure. i later learned the hard way what inflation meant

Isn’t their rumours of a big GW price increase coming anyway??

They announced a price update, apparently to average around 4%. I wouldn't really call that big. (IIRC, Wargames Atlantic said their prices would be going up around 8%.)

GW have upped their prices so much over their years though so they don´t need to.. Well, they need for the shareholers.. But for the actual arguments they pull. No.
Nothing new there.. Sadly too many people buy too much from them..

Yeah I think the new box will be the same as the 2nd Season - which I loved.. The Black Orcs are my favs and i traded the Imperial Nobilty for soem good stuff.. (Could have kept them as a house team but would not likepainting them so..)
Pretty nice getting the Big Buys and a Star Player each. Felt real good.

I can´t motivate paying for a new box.. just the rules.. Markers are nice but.. I can live without them - get some other printed shit elsewhere..
