Third season - new edition, 2025

"passing had become far too restrictive ... overly complex and confusing for many coaches. We’ve taken that on board and removed Wildly Inaccurate Passes and Deflections. ... it’s now either Accurate, Inaccurate, or a Fumble – and Intercepting is now just either an Intercept or not. Simple!"

While there's still a separate Passing stat, this seems to have undone many of the other 2020 changes. That's welcome, in my book.

"new Skills and Traits"

Sounds ok.

"The first thing to note is that the number of positionals on a roster will now match what is in the team box, meaning you should never have to buy a second box just to get more Blitzers/Runners etc."

I don't like this, especially given that (in many cases) you may want a second box just to have more than 12 models. It simply means it's the linemen that will be most sought after, while the extra positionals will be redundant (unless converted into star players or something).

Buy a 2nd box? I bought forge world blisters to get more blitzers. And not just one, cause they couldn't pack that either. Needed 2 FW blisters to get the extra positionals. For both Orcs and Humans. Because they wasted one slot for Throwers!!! Which the box always comes with 2 of. And you never want more than 1. Do I get a refund for this treachery?

🤣

I wish. A lot of people probably wish.

Problem is GW do this sort of stunt all the time when swapping editions of their various games.

Particularly a problem if you’ve not only sunk money into buying extra things but also sunk time into building, painting, converting and going through appropriate rulebooks only to have that squandered when another update rolls out and you’ve now got too many/few or illegal builds for the unit/fighter/whatever or it has simply been excised completely from the game!!

Then again I’m replying to @TopsyKretts who’s undertaken the cataloging of modern Necromunda… so, yeah. You know the plight.

I know for other games sure. But Blood Bowl has kept steady rosters for decades. I got 1988 dwarfs fully playable today! Only needed to add a couple of 90s metal slayers, unweaponed.

Edit: Funnily enough, the dwarves may come out of yet another edition unscathed.

the 'nobility' boxset is a strange one , yes you get the positionals but only 4 linemen. so in a league match where journeymen are inevitable its a problem , or if you want a low cost team with a bench you need 3 boxes (or a printed team of policemen with every option including staff for the price of less than 1 box)

I haven't heard them say anything about journeymen, but it's possible they've changed the rules for those too. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Bring GFI back! Stop silly name changes like FAME is Fan Factor, and Fan Factor is Dedicated Fans?!? Don't rename Wild Animal to Unchanneled Fury. And adding a new, more severe variant, call it Wild Beast instead of Animal Savagery, so they line nicely next to each other when sorted alphabetically.

But most importantly, get rid of that useless term "Fall Over". When was it ever relevant?
It bugs me alot when they do that for no reason.. I thought Spear Chukka was silly when introduced in 6th Ed O&Gs book but then liked it.. And suddenly it is non PC after 25 years..? Never heard that slur.. And IMGO, ignoring such nonsense makes it irrelevant as a slur..

Anyways..

Just changing such names for no reason, might sound trivial, but says something about the process and a lack or respect for teh what was before.
If there is no reason to change, don´t.

just read the new update on GWs site , i wasted my time with painting 4 blitzers , its 2 max now, oh well

Yeah.. Glad I did not buy two orc bozes plus boosters yet.. Dodged that shit sandwich.. Sick of GW ruining your models, overpriced shite you put many hours into painting.. So orcs, and others, are punished because GW were greedy and released trash boxes and now again when they limit the options, after DECADES based on those greedy, sloppy boxes. Nonsense.

I kitbashed my Druchii team entirely out of Dark Eldar Wyches, Hellions and Kabalite Warriors (Lelith Hesperax as Roxana Darknail and a Mandrake Assassin) and yes, I bought 4 boxes of Wyches just for the single pair of Hydra Gauntlets (very spiky fists and forearms) for my 4 Blitzers :ROFLMAO:

I converted a 24-elf squad that could be any of the four Elf teams (4 blitzers, 4 catchers/runners, etc). But I did it out of the 3rd edition warriors, so they were fairly cheap.

What's really stopped me getting anything 2016- is the scale creep. Any of the new models wouldn't fit with those I already have. So, I haven't bothered.

If genuine, looks like the end of Tackle- and Guard-spam.

Also, rumours suggest £88 for the starter box. If that's RRP, it seems surprisingly cheap. (I was expecting around £120.)

I've seen a few leaks (or supposed leaks) posted on social media now. Not sure of the sources or how reliable they are.

One (which I think was from a quick reference sheet or similar, rather than the full rulebook) suggested a possible penalty for stalling. (I know that is something of a divisive issue.)

I think the definition of stalling wasn't quite how I'd interpret the term though. It says a player is stalling if they could score, without rolling dice, but don't by the end of their activation.

By this definition, you can be guilty of stalling simply because, for instance, you choose to hand the ball off to another player (for SPPs). Even though the plan was to score that turn (not to run the clock down), it qualifies as stalling because the first player didn't score in their activation.

(It also seems to imply that vampires and others with various nega-traits can't stall, because they would always need to roll a dice.)
