I’m running a Goliath gang, there’s a couple gangs in the local campaign that are pretty heavy on poison/toxic damage.

My understanding is higher toughness is good, also respirators vs gas grenades and a gas thrower template weapon. Are there any other tools or tactics or tricks to help deal with a lot of poison?

Toughness does the trick, toxin is equivalent to S4 so toughness above that makes it tougher to wound. Also armour as toxin weapons still need to penetrate before they can actually do damage.

Beyond I believe there are some genesmithing options that make you more resilient, albeit only useful for new members of the gang.

Aside from that, the main benefit of toxin is mitigating your wounds characteristic, so tooling up some gangers for melee rather than champions and using that to fight toxin-armed opponents effectively negates it's biggest benefit.

However the best answer is to not let them reach you, blaze is a good answer to most melee opponents and a strategic flamer or hand flamer or two in your lineup will normally given even the most souped up Death Maidens pause for thought

Aside from upgrading your toughness, which you can only do twice for your stats there is only really armour that protects Vs toxin, not including any Genesmithing, a lot of toxin weapons have Ap to some degree.
Your best bet is to shoot them first. With Missiles, Multiple Meltas etc.

If they go down that route then using some Juves is the best option as they’re cheap, similar in statline to gangers and pretty much all CC.

Let them tie up the opposition.

Toxin is essentially just an S4 weapon that bypasses wounds. It's ok, but I've never found it to be dangerous enough that I've needed to make any special preparations to deal with it.
If your opponent has a significant tranche of toxin weapons, maybe consider thinning them out with long range shooting before exposing your expensive, multi-wound fighters?

Armour. You just need armour to stop it. If you arent already, then put armour on your juves as well.

As Psyan said, it's essentially a T4 weapon. Eshers using it with gas template weapons is a bit more of an issue... Especially once they extend the range of their weapon and do all the other chem trickery. At that point the best tactic is to blow those fighters away early.
