Trak proxies and suggestions

Hello,

Apologies if this has been discussed multiple times before. I only recently started collecting an Ork Amy, having only had a Necron army before that and as a kid I jumped from one army to the next without ever really settling.

Anyway I was recently rummaging through my mum's garage and was delighted to find both the rulebooks for Gorkamorka, now I want to play using my own Ork model's.

As per the title, I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for kitbashing or buying proxies for Trakks. The one's I must have had with the original game are long gone I think, probably got thrown out or sold at a car boot sale.

I've looked through GW's range to see if anything might prove useful but not found anything so far, except for maybe one of the Necromunda vehicles but I'm not confident it will suit Ork models.

Many thanks

If you want something "off the rack" then there's stuff like these two from Kromlech. In terms of 3D printing there's all sorts available (Puppetswar do this one, MrModulork does this style).

There's almost infinite kitbashing and scratchbuilding options so it's hard to say where to start on that front. It really depends on what you're comfortable with. Traks don't have to look like the ones in the Gorkamorka box. They're just any vehicle with tracks.

Well I was wondering what the best examples of these might be. The Battlewagon has a track of course but it's not very economical to buy one just to make a small vehicle for Gorkamorka.

It really depends on what your priorities are. The cheapest that doesn't need specialist equipment is probably tearing apart random old toys and adding a bit of styrene for detailing.
For some folks cost isn't an issue and so buying a load of sprues is preferable to 3D printing or kitbashing.

There's no single best option as whatever you feel like fielding is allowed.

I would definitely second the Kromlech models, I’ve had a few of them over the years and they’ve always been superbly cast and full of character! Not had their Trakk model though but I can’t imagine it’d differ from the usual high quality they release.

In a more plastic route the two Goliath Lawnmowers both have a rear track and could easily be converted to be more Ork, just replace the driver and add appropriate weapons.

Are you trying to recreate the old track models? I would say have a look at toy sections for toys with appropriate size tank tracks or wrap foam sheets around bottle caps, if you are wanting to save 5 teef on the roster. Otherwise look to third party kits.

The size of a vehicle is a trade off. A bigger vehicle is a bigger target and has more problems navigating terrain. Smaller vehicles can hold fewer warriors but work better with terrain. The price difference is really only a reflection of armour and speed. So that battle wagon costs the same as that little gun platform that came in the box. Just expect several shots on that one vehicle per turn and for loot to be located amongst rocks.
