Hey yaks!
I’d like to find out how much interest there is for events next year and what folks thoughts and preferences are?

This is just a fleeting questionnaire that I’m just making up on the spot, so forgive any ground not covered, but please add anything you can think of!

*what games would you like to see played?
*how many events do you think you’d be willing/able to attend?
*would you prefer one day events or two day weekenders?
*would you prefer that the venue have on site accommodation?

I’ll ad more questions as they come up, but I’m interested to see what yaks say!

I'll kick things off:

N17, bolt action, fantasy, gothic, mordheim, gorkamorka
1 or 2 events in the year
2 day weekenders to make it worth the trip
Venue with accommodation is preferable

Morning,

1) NCE - Leave Newmunda to Sump Con and support Sump Con via the site.
I’m also interested in a bring and play anything event ie Specialist Games, Bolt Action, SW Armada etc etc

2) 1 or 2 events a year

3) 2 Day Event

4) Accommodation on site or very local / near to the venue.

Love the Troll

1) NCE mainly, but I'm also keen on seeing BFG, Bolt Action, even Blood Bowl despite never really playing it.
2) Two events, alothough it's usually a long old slog for me so it's more likely one event that I can attend if you exclude small "local" (i.e. within 400 mile) ones like TribeSoiree.
3) I prefer two day weekender events due to the travelling involved.
4) Accommodation on site it nice, but I'm not averse to nearby.

Full weekends win due to a lot of games having campaign rules.
NCE, BFG, Frost/star grave, 2nd edition 40k, actually, which games we play isnt that important so I won’t list them all, I’ll play just about anything.
Accommodation on site is preferred but a few minutes in the car isn’t a problem.

1. NCE as a bare minimum, but would love some "third-party" skirmish games in general.
2. At least one.
3. Two-day weekenders, get a good amount of games in.
4. On-site accommodation would be preferred if there were also shower facilities and it would be significantly cheaper than a nearby hotel. It would be interesting to see if there was any way a group booking at a hotel could work to reduce room costs in a hotel, either as getting an event hosted in a hotel (like TribeMeet '19) or for increased potential for carpooling (assuming this whole pandemic thing calms down).

Accomodation costs probably limit me to 3 a year.
NCE obviously. Would like to do something for GoMo's 25th birthday next year. 2nd ed 40k looks fun.

But a grognard field day/campaign weekend. Where it's just a free for all of gaming systems, also sounds fun.

Mordheim, frost/stargrave are also things I'm interested in but would need to get stuff together for and actually look into rules etc.

A thought; some of the "popular" third-party games have lots of potential "wandering monsters", which may be an issue for some (i.e. the organisers) to acquire and paint up in sufficient quantities to cover multiple boards (particularly painting up several fistfuls of zombies for zombie apocalypse-style games).

Scenery/terrain would also need to be either hand-waved or sufficiently planned for (again, zombie apocalypse games are primarily modern-day based, so lots of small town shops, office buildings and houses). There's enough futuristic stuff because Necromunda, and I assume there would be a healthy supply of fantasy stuff in general.

so Tribemeet 2019 then? ;)
I was thinking of a situation where an event is playing Last Days: Zombie Apocalypse, having 10+ tables with up to 20 (or more) zombies on each at any one time (depending on people's playstyles or the scenario at hand) could be feasible (or at least ensuring enough zombie models available per table to not need to cannibalise from other tables); I don't recall 200+ zombie models being available at TribeMeet 2019, but then again it was so long ago now...

In all likelihood it wouldn't get to that point, really - I don't see many people discussing e.g. LD:ZA here, so it would probably end up being played on a table (or two, possibly just to shake up the scenery from "town" to "camp site/woods", maybe "prison/military base/airport" with scenery being exchanged from the table to a "terrain reserve" between games), and typically there'd be maybe up to 10 zombies per table (a handful at the start, and a few every turn wandering on a random table edge depending on noise/scenario rules).

The core issue would probably be with other games like Frostgrave/Stargrave having a variety of different wandering monsters being required (zombies, skeletons, giant insects, vampires etc.), so there would need to be a large pool of available models for however many different monsters could appear.

As an outsider looking in, I kinda assumed that was the point of this thread. To determine if something like that was even necessary.

I brought about 100 just in case. I could definitely manage at least 150 if I brought every model I have.

But yeah, I get the point. Trying to get together a bunch of the beasties required for frostgrave only to find I didn't much care for it was a little annoying.

A LDZA campaign where everyone has to bring 10 zombies would work ok though. Practically everyone can lay their hands on 10 zombie models.

There’s at least 30 zombie Troll models knocking around - I’m sure we’ll come up with some new requirement I haven’t covered but recent years mean I’ve got stuff to cover off a lot of the games types peeps think of. Vehicles, Boats, Zombies etc

1) NCE, N18, Inquisitor, can also do 2nd edition 40k, oh BFG/Full thrust and maybe some board games BSF

2) 2 to 3 events

3/4) 2 day events preferably with either onsite accommodation or camping. Though small local 1 day events would be doable

Well, Necromunda is fairly obvious! ORB, NCE or N18 is great. I think having the choice is good.

Other than that, for me more of the skirmish types would be ok - so SW:A or Kill Team. Maybe a classic dungeon crawler?

1-2 events realistically, depending on life, work and all that.

Personally I’d prefer a weekend as it makes it more of an event. I guess it depends on where it is located.

On or nearby is fine. Again, depends on where it’s located.

GW will probably release a new version for the 25th anniversary so we can all play the new one...

I think 2 events is a good number. Weekenders. On site accommodation.

Mostly NCE due to limited time and money to put models together. I would be very interested in trying out new stuff but perhaps as a side table somehow linked to the main event. (For example a zombie NCE campaign but one table is for LDZA for those that want a go, or a table for Epic 40k determining some of the macro level story). Shadow war or Inq28 would also be cool.

1-2 events a year could probably be attended

N17, Mordheim, something in the Inq28 vein would be cool but is a whole can of worms by itself, though there are some incredibly flexible systems out there
I've access to a couple of mini agnostic rulesets which could be good fun to break out for campaign play in sci fi and also dark fantasy settings

Would prefer weekender rather than day trip to make travel time and cost more worthwhile

Venue with accommodation also preferred
