Ah, yeah I guess it’s not easy when you’ve not much enthusiasm for a system.

It probably doesn’t help that Newcromunda has like, 300 different ways to play. It’s fun enough if you take it in the spirit it seems like it’s intended.

Oh… yeah, SumpCon or something. They were the ones with the ThunderCUBE clone. Bloody Goonhammer attended that if I remember right!!

IMO for future events, it really needs to be centered around one game system with a campaign that everyone can take part in (even if its just a basic NCE campaign). We don't need a wild themed weekend with a booklet of special rules. A storyline and one or two little extra things is more than enough. A PDF would save on printing costs.

Side games can be a thing, but the focus is the main event. So a table or two for BFG / INQ / Space Hulk at an NCE event for example. Folks can play those as they like, but are urged to at least participate in the main campaign a bit. Traditionally, side games are saved for Saturday evening but this could be expanded a bit. Its nice to have a break from the main event. The showground has the second room that is perfect for this.

Perhaps alternating NCE / Mordheim for the main event could be a thing, but I have little clue about Mordheim so wouldn't know where to start with arranging a campaign outside of just playing straight from the books.

If we're not getting enough people for the events, it may be time to look for a new venue more like the original hotel setup. I'd rather see a smaller event than open it to all and sundry for the sake of it. There's only so many people you can play in a weekend.

I personally think this is the right way to go - it gives a concentration of players all playing the same game, so feels like a themed event rather than just a place for people to gather and play everything under the sun.

The production values for prior campaigns have been amazing (was amazed given it is a community run event) but if it's becoming a barrier to running the event then it definitely feels like these should be scaled back.

Does NCE have ready-made campaigns in the way Newcromunda does? Maybe running one of these would help, if so?

Also, if you're struggling for content, maybe one of the YakComps could be repurposed? Design a new scenario / big bad, and best one will appear at yakmeet...

Also, if you don't know anything about Mordheim, Tiny, I'd just like to suggest BFG instead... :)

My other thought for a necromunda event is have the Saturday evening specialist games have a small fun effect on the Sunday games.

BFG - have a transport escort mission, each transport escorted off the table allows a either a rare trade weapon or a unique weapon to become available at common on sunday (chosen by the committee)

Inq - have the game setup the big bad evil guy. The games result sets the number of henchmen he has at his beck and call.

It allows people to get invested in these other games but not effect the numbers playing necromunda

It has the baked-in free for all campaign setting in the rulebook. There were also bunch of campaigns in various Citadel Journals and Fanatic articles.

I think coming up with campaign ideas has never really been an issue. Controlling the urge to add them all at once is the issue.

I was going to bring up that other Necromunda event (run by Sump City Radio) because they seem to get huge numbers turning up... But it appears that that is a sore spot...
Ignoring any sore spots, that is a podcast vs a forum.

I quite like the community aspect of YakTribe, as Tiny say opening it up too wide and you lose that. Saying that, it seems a lot of people use the tools on here so they must have accounts - it depends on if they bother with the forum side of the site. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I suggested the YouTube types mostly to help nudge those who have accounts but dormant (or using the tools but contributing nothing else) to maybe get more involved.

I wouldn’t want the Meet-up to dwindle and fizzle out. I was super stoked to get along a few years back and have been to each one since. Its encouraged me to finish off a pile of MDF scenery I had sat around, dug out old gangs and build a ship and monster that I probably wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for the campaign themes.

Honestly, the deadline of the YakMeet weekend works wonders on getting motivation going.

While it is a podcast and does its own advertising for the event, one of the main guys is a Yak (originally under the name Crowgod). They may be up for giving us a mention for future events. Or maybe even join in and play.

Possibly, though it might go against their own event. One of the Goonhammer writers went to it and wrote an article, yet they’ve never been to TribeMeet. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I still wonder if people know it’s on, if they don’t actively use the forums??

Well, the Yaktribe Facebook page is pretty dormant, but it is a resource that could be used to post about TribeMeet.

It’s not necromunda themed this year, us path to glory lot are taking over! 😀
I’ve said it else where but I will play any game system against anyone but do prefer a series of campaign games where there is some story/progression. This can be done singularly or a mad mash up of necromunda/inquisitor/bfg/space crusade or mordheim/witch Hunter/man o’war /hero quest etc

I regularly see gang lists of the Reddit Necromunda forum, many of which link directly to the yaktribe tools - you could maybe plug in there (although that risks an untenable influx of people, I think)...

Nah we haven’t fallen out with SumpCon, at one point they were even coming to Tribemeet and then Covid19 happened. They got a bit more established during the lockdown and then I think they wanted their own event, plus Fat Charlie from Wargames Tournaments wanted to get his events business up running in Belper.

The Belper location is great, we just preferred Newark because if we can fill it its like a Wargaming festival! sleeping under the tables, painting things last minute, fridge for beer sod all accommodation costs if you camp etc etc

Possibly Troll humour may have offended SCR at some point when I mentioned how similar some things are, but at the end of the day, Death Pits or THUNDERCUBES have been around for a long time 🤣

Do you know what might also be feasible? A miniature making area. Sharing bits, painting tutorials, maybe a miniature competition? Might appeal to the yaktribe type of people
