A special shout out to
@Kiblams for allowing us to use his wonderful vertical board!
Personally, it was my favourite game of the whole event, even though I lost.
As well as being an amazing piece of terrain, it was just so tactically different to your regular horizontal surface.
Here's how the game went. My Rolling Stoners (Goliaths) were trying to intercept a food parcel that
@Lyracian's Voodoo Dolls were trying to sneak past.
The board looked like this I had to somehow cover all possible escape routes from the right edge to the left with only 5 of my gang. And I had to set up first, so I didn't know which level(s) he was going to be on. An impossible task!
Mick Jogger, not being a great tactical genius, decided to take hist two heavies (Bob and Rich), the preacher (Spence Malan), and an uppity kid called Jack the Flasher. The idea was to set up all over the place and hope the Eschers were dumb enough to run into my lines of fire...
Unsurprisingly, they did no such thing. They all set up on the bottom two levels, where only Spence was holding the line.
Thankfully, Spence had his trusty hand flamer, and hid ready to fry the first face that rounded the corner!
This stalled their advance for a few turns (clearly too afraid of getting their hair singed), giving time for Mick Jogger and Rich Keith to execute a flanking manoeuvre, while Bob repositioned. Seriously, this vertical board is awesome! Where else would your leader and heavy be running all the way across the board and down a few levers to flank your enemy!?
Things were starting to look up for The Rolling Stoners! The gauntlet was closing!
However, fate intervened.
Mick Jogger got shot and fell bleeding at the feet of the Voodoo Dolls' leader. Spence jumped out to try and shoot her before she could finish Mick off, missed, and got stabbed up the following turn. Both Bob and Rich made a lot of noise, but hit nothing. And Jack the Flasher was nowhere to be seen.
At that point Mick lost conciousness, and the rest of the Rolling Stoners ran away.
Thankfully, everyone came back in one piece, so there was no need to visit the body shop for spare parts
I lost, but dammit, what a ride!
@Kiblams was such a gent, he even let me hold on to his board for a while longer, so that some of my friends that couldn't make it to TribeMeet can have a go too!
