N17 Venator(bounty hunter) gangs in next WD

I saw some rumors that instead of working turf, venator gangs get paid by a contractor. They can still work the land but that represents them asking their benefactor for additional funding. On a 1, they don't get anything.

Having access to any primary skill is certainly scary.

On the other hand, no Juve so they can't really hoard Savant skill or infiltrate.

The timing may be very important with GW3. If this bounty hunter 'Venator' gang is supposed to have access to large parts or entire trading post, they need GW3 or they must copy-paste (oh the horrors!) weapons, items and costs from GW3. Or in worst case make a different version of the trading post (horrors again!).

I await this one eagerly :)

I think there is a risk of them being open to abuse - if it does happen to turn out you can essentially take anything you like then it might get a bit power-gamey. We shall see!

Precisely. So it would have made sense to have gradually released the bounty hunters over the last couple of months leading up to the full WD gang. That way I would have bought some of them over that period ready for this. Now do I buy Van Saars, Bounty Hunters, More Goliaths, or the rulebooks?
They have released bounty hunters over the last couple of months leading up to the full WD gang now.

I bought Van Saars, dice, cards, more gliaths, more escher, the new book. Got quite expensive! Add all the new blood bowl stuff released at the same time (3 dice sets, cards, magazine, chaos team ++) on top of that.

The game is not open to abuse already (full Goliath gang with grenade launchers)?

Buying Goliath Legacy to spam grenade launcher is a waste of credit. They already had access to GL in their list.

And they are not really expensive considered they have superior advantage over the other gang.

Edit : Oops, no Special weapon for Hunter. No spam for you lol.

This article was really thin! And super flexible. Welcome squat gangs, orcs and most others. The rules fit a single page. Good timing releasing it at the same time as GW3, cause the article doesn't have any weapons (and therefore the first to not have weapon profile mistakes and inconsistencies), so you want a new Trading Post because the old one in GW1 is poor.

Also, this gang will not make much money it seems, unless able to capture or kill enemy fighters and also defend against the rescue.

Yes, I did notice the evident Dark Eldar-able profile/Beastman-able profile, the Squat-able profile, the Ork Freebooter-able profile/Kroot-able profile... Definitely a support to Inq28 players as well, to give them an N17 option instead of or in addition to the ORB/SW:A option. Looks as though there is no reason to build an N17 edition of the old "Hi Ho!" rules, for example. This should be able to have that idea handled. And the flexibility in the loadout options means you should be able to tailor your roster to your models and visual "rule of cool," rather than needing to choose your models to match your rules.

Yep definitely looks like a very solid gang that will let you build almost any gang you fancy. Yes I am sure we will see a minimax list or two but I reckon it's worth that for the versatility.

Pretty much any gang people have made custom rules for is covered plus it will let people take their outlander gangs until come out. Whilst they might not be a perfect fit again you can just take them to pick up and play games

The "problem" is they may be too blend, for example you could use the bounty gang for your chaos cult miniatures, but you'd be missing out on the fun and unique ritual, favors and spawn. Some additional house rules depending on gang may be in order.

Welcome to role playing gangs! While special rules are nice and all, actually playing in character and with a theme/look is often enough to create a suitable narrative/story for any weird and wonderful stuff. I don;t mean that to sound patronising btw, I have only recently discovered this mindset for gaming from trying to get into napoleonics and the idea that all inf are the same ish, with the occasional special rule but its mainly the character the palyers put in that makes it pop. This is a very different idea to how gw tends to build their games with special rules for everything! but it means less book checking, faster gameplay etc.

So for a strictly competative edge, yeah they will lack, but in terms of 'fun Imunda type games/campaigns' I think they will be ace!

How are people reading this?

1) pick one statline for all of that type (I.e all hunters have the same profile)

2) pick one statline per model ( I.e my combat champ is going for decent weapon skill... My heavy champ is going for decent bs)

Option 1 equals interesting custom gangs... Option 2 equals a gang with no wasted stats anywhere (pretty op in my view)

True and fair points... It allows some excellent customisation.. But goodness me I can see this being abused by the unscrupulous...

Anyone see a downside to these guys? Am I missing soothing super obvious that makes them as challenging to use as a normal gang?
