Asked this already elsewhere and it seems like opinions are divided. Thought it might be worth a shot to hear what Yak is thinking. 😃

Got a question regarding the recent Venator Update:
I give a member of my Venators a house Legacy, say Goliath. Now he „adds additional weapons and wargear to their equipment list“, in this case he gains additional access to the Goliath Forge Tyrants equipment list.

Now, under „equipment“ for the different types of ganger it says „he may buy weapons and wargear from either the legacy equipment list or the trading post“

It might be a translation thing, but I’m not sure how to read this: Do I have to decide between Legacy list and Trading post? Or can I use both lists on gang creation (like in this case for example giving him a Lasgun from the trading post, and also a sump croc from the Legacy list)?

Thanks in advance 😊

As I interpret/remember it,
When, at gang creation you buy your gangmember with an applicable background * / **,
you can buy from the gang (leader's) equipment list and from the trading post.
After this, you're stuck with the 'trading post' equipment assortment (weapons, armor, exotic pets, accesories, ...)

I assume the intention was to avoid being able to have a gang where trading rarity just doesn't apply anymore.

* separately for each member having: the house gangs, ironhead squats, slave ogryn background
** or buy new gang members with said origins, halfway the campaign

Some have argued, with good reason, that the wording can mean that you have to choose to EITHER use only things from the legacy list OR only use things from the trading post.

Others have argued, with good reason, that the wording can mean that any and every thing you buy them has to each come from EITHER the list OR the trading post.

Neither interpretation seems game-breaking or gang-breaking.

After hire, none of the fighters have ANY equipment list. Not a legacy gang list, not from the Trading Post. They can only be equipped by visiting the Trading Post. This could be complicated in some campaigns, where Trading Post access is reduced or restricted (For example, Scavenging during the last stage of the Uprising Campaign). But that is true whichever interpretation is correct.

We‘re going to do a short special campaign soon and my Arbitrator already houseruled that Venators ignore the part that they lose access to the Legacy Ewuipment List during the campaign.
Basically (in this upcoming campaign) I could access the trading post at creation, and buy anything I want from the Legacy Lists afterwards. Would just have been interesting to know how the rules ACTUALLY are meant 😅
