Hope no one minds i necro this thread. I got the SW:A box and have been playing for a bit an enjoying it more than Kill Team 2018 and Kill Team21/24. While looking into the rules and finding out that they are basically 40k 2nd rules and stats i also came to the same idea of using 2nd ed codex units with SW:A rules. However, list building for SW:A would need to change to incorporate other troop units. I think i have two propositions.
1. We start with a full team and use 200pts from 40k2nd: 200pts would be a 5 man squad of space marine with upgrades or about 16 guards with 2 specialists i think. 200pts is the hard cap for any Kill Team, but you can use promethium caches to acquire more units and add them to a roster. You can pick and choose which units to bring to a mission similar to KT18
2. We start with 100pts from 40k2nd and build up: This would be similar somewhat to the starting points of SW:A and we can slowly build up kill teams and implement Kill Team ratings. The only downside i see to this is being able to bring a lot of models to the table since SW:A doesnt have a income system to keep players from making huge gangs/kill teams. SW:A, per the book, fixes this issue by setting a hard cap of how many Orks you can bring for example, but thats just Ork Boyz. If we introduce other units from 40k2nd then that limit has to be changed.
Currently drafting a ruleset for this. I've already actually tested playing with 40k2nd units, with SW:A ruleset and it works flawlessly, with a match up of 3 Space Marines (no specialists) vs 8 Ork Boyz (also no specialist) keeping it under a 100pts. I think the big thing would be how we structure the list building itself. Regardless of any traction this gets, im most likely going to write up the rules and publish somewhere but if anyone has any thoughts on the topic feel free to add them here
