Unfortunately for me, they've made the new site much less functional in terms of being able to reach articles and read them.

I usually jumped on, read the latest stuff then left, but the new format doubles my time on the site simply because of navigation issues with little added personal value.

Maybe liking the community posts will mean something, but given previous community feedback to GW and their reaction I'd be reluctant to think it will.

This is GW we're talking about, remember - like something too vigorously and you can be almost guaranteed they'll do something else.

"We might release Juves for N18 house gangs!"
*likelikelikelikelikelikelikelikelike*
"BOUNTY HUNTERS!"
...wut?
"YOU WANTED MORE BOUNTY HUNTERS!"
...but...
"THEIR RULES MAKE THEM POINTLESS IN GAME BUT WE JUST KEEP MAKING MORE BECAUSE YOU GUYS ARE CRAZY FOR THEM!"
...fine, fine, models are kinda cool, even if I don't use them as bounty hunters because I'm not clinically deranged, I can maybe incorperate them into my gangs instead. Now, about those Juves...
"MOAR NEW BOOKS!"
...but... Juves?
"MOOOOOOAAAAR BOOOOOOOOKS! NEW NOT-JUVE FIGHTER TYPES! MORE SCENARIOS TO ADD TO THE ELEVENTY GAJILLION WE'VE ALREADY MADE! IT'S WHAT YOU ALL WANTED!"
...pretty sure we didn't...
"MORE NEW WEAPONS TO KEEP TRACK OF!"
...agh, headache... are you working on the Juves?
"TAU FOR THE FLYING GAME!"
...oh for god's sake...

The problem is the portion of the community that are most vocal on social media are the same people who will buy every single thing GW pump out even if it looks like a potato or yet another pack of cards.

There is literally no incentive for GW to make good games or the minis most people want to see. They can make whatever they want and there's a bunch of people who will buy it all anyway and prostrate themselves to GW to get it.

Back on topic, I see they do have a list of most popular (i.e. most liked) articles. So, I guess that makes it a little easier for people to find the interesting stuff - assuming of course that your interests fit with those of most readers. I suspect this list will be dominated by 40k rather than specialist games.

It took them a decade.
;)
9 years of not listening to any feedback, then 1 year of actually reading what people asked for in that survey of them.
My point is that they are actually able to listen to customer feedback when they want to. But as far as Neomunda is concerned, all they want to listen to is the sweet *kaching* of the cash register.

I'm not sure they'll use this new 'like' function for that kind of purpose though. Sales figures are probably a better indicator to them, and regular surveys could help them better understand what their customer base wants for the future (assuming SoB are as financial a success as I believe they should be).

It's never been completely smooth to navigate (the promoted posts at the top either duplicated posts below, or were very old, so not clear what was actually "new"). But now it's far worse. There's a gazillion things on the homepage and, especially on mobile, it's overwhelming. They mentioned in the announcement that they've now "crammed more Warhammer on to the homepage than ever before", so they appear to know what they've done, but not realise this is a bad thing. And reader votes is a spectacularly poor way to create a hierarchy of content in a hobby with such diverse niche interests.

I actually thought their web teams & agencies have been doing a pretty good job in recent years, but this is a step backwards.

Thinking further about the reader votes, there's no indication that this is 'most liked in the last month/week/etc'. If it's an all-time list then it will probably end up promoting some very out of date content.

I have to agree that the new layout (at least for the mobile) is absolute garbage. I can no longer hold my finger down on the articles and open them in a new tab to set my reading list and need to click in to read, then click out, then find my place again, etc.

Maybe I’m just bad with computers/tech but it really irritates me when websites turn off basic functions like open on new tab.

The one shining light it has is that you can now filter the articles to just Necromunda articles. Just click the menu, then click articles, then scroll down to Other Ganes and click Necromunda, et voila no more other shitty GW games.
