How did you reach that conclusion?
From the one point of data we have, Prospects are cheap fighters similar to Juves and Juves usually are BS5+ (with Van Saar Juves being the only exception).
I agree that Escher Prospects being BS 5+ is a reasonable assumption (but not a guarantee). I'm also pretty sure Bows are the only basic weapon they'll have access to.

That's a lot of assumptions from a single point of data.

But if they are right, then bows are even more dead on arrival. I don't expect to see them on the table for anything else than the memes.

And honestly, I am fine with there being no bows in Necromunda. In my opinion, the heavy crossbow was already a stretch, thematically.

Not excited. Not looking forward to gangs being re-released every 2 years. We had parity 2 and a half years ago. Now we must wait at least 1 year for parity again. Wonder how long it will last then until they redo everything again. I don't care for new weapons or unit types. We have a gazillion weapons already that we can explore. The existing combinations are endless.

Yes but very reasonable ones. Prospects are Juves 2.0, we knew that from the very first time they were mentioned and House of Chains merely confirmed it. Juves are usually BS5+ and Escher are traditionally slightly more fighty than shooty so I wouldn't expect their new entry level fighters to be any better shots than that.
Prospects are supposed to suck and this time at least they get an equally bad (yet hopefully dirt cheap) weapon to match their profile, in contrast with Goliath forgeborns whose kit weapon options are ridiculously expensive.

But yeah, bows are probably doa for any serious player whether I'm right or wrong about the wyld runners' BS. Not sure why they insist on making brand new weapons for Prospects anyway, it just makes those nice Juve miniatures harder to equip for no good reason.

These bows are pretty similar to house rules bows we had (particularly with having alternate poisoned, explosive and "fire" arrows - except max distance was dependent on the shooter's strength, at 3 and 6 times the strength of the shooter), and we found they worked quite well - a characterful, "last of us" stealthy alternative. I wouldn't naysay them yet, especially having these on probable 6" to 8" moving shooters with the silent trait, allowing some fine sneaky shooting :D

In terms of why this pretty much matches my homerules from last summer - the basic wyld runner's bow rather matches the mutie bows event from Book of Peril (wherein the muties shooting at long range only really hit on a 6).

I do think bows make a lot of sense - low-tech is very much part of the underhive alongside high-tech. Much like crossbows and handbows of old, or the primitive weapons in Inquisitor, that sat alongside energy weapons and bolters and whatever else. I do wish they were universal weapons, rather than seemingly locked to the wyld runners, but that's easy enough to house rule.

Goliath Bullies (Juves) are a viable alternative to Brutes (Gangers) if you are arming them from the regular Goliath sprue with a CCW and Stubgun. Cheaper, and just as good in melee. I think the intent is to make Prospects and Juves fit different tactical roles, and they succeeded with Goliaths IMHO. We'll see how they do with the rest of the gangs.

A better question would be why bother creating a new weird subtype of a fighter that looks like a juve, armed like a juve but apparently is not a juve?
They pretty much hate juves.
Not so much hatred but more an effort to remove child soldier I think.

I don’t know why they needed to invent prospects but it seems as if they wanted to have those as the “Luke Skywalker*” types they experimented with but mucked up a bit in the Gang War series.

The actual Juves are now getting new names and seem to be the lowest class Ganger instead.
Specialist Ganger > Ganger > ‘Juve’

The fact that Juve now jumps to Specialist Ganger cements that. The three above are their own locked off class of henchmen.

The Prospects are part of the class of Champion, just the lowest rung.** The weapons are the odd part here as you get the Tools of the Trade but unless I’m missing something the Champions (Goliath) can’t own a Heavy Rock Saw or Storm-Welder.

So your Goliath Prospect lucks up and you choose the Stimmer path and they keep their weapons but apparently can’t use them??
I know that the Stimmer can use certain weapons from the Trading Post of Black Market but not sure if these Prospect ones are on either.

I’m guessing the Wyld bow is on neither. So what do the Escher prospects do with those bows when they upgrade to a Champion (assuming they share a common upgrade path with Goliaths)? Will the bows be solely for Prospects or are they just general Escher??

Has the Specialist Games Team thought about this at all??????

*pre Green milk.
**Its a little confused as they appear by upgrading toChampion status to fulfil that lowest run. OTOH they count as being part of the Gang Fighter (x) 50%+ rule.
