Hello, Gangers, Cultists, and Officers!

Does webbing a fighter earns the webgun operator any XP. The rules for the webbed condition in the new 2023 core Rulebook say that the target counts as seriously injured. Seriously injuring someone grants XP but I'd like to hear your thoughts and see if there's a consensus on this. Thanks in advance for your input.

It's even confirmed by the web solvent wording p 292 It may not count as seriously injured.

When a fighter equipped with web solvent makes a Recovery check due to the Webbed condition, roll an extra Injury dice, picking one of the dice to resolve it and discarding the other.

Note that the Webbed fighter isn't Seriously Injured, mind. The Recovery Roll for Webbed gives different results, as regards resulting Flesh Wounds.

As such, both sides (xp or no xp) have a solid argument behind them.

1. While the fighter isn't Seriously Injured, it says to treat the fighter as if Seriously Injured, so that means XP for the fighter that caused it.
1a. Part of becoming seriously injured is your opponent getting an xp.

2. Since the fighter isn't Seriously Injured, that doesn't trigger the xp gain for the attacking fighter.
2a. Recovery rolls don't treat Seriously Injured and Webbed the same way [During Recovery, rolling SI for a Webbed fighter does not cause a Flesh Wound; where rolling SI for a Seriously Injured fighter does cause a Flesh Wound].
2b. It says to treat the webbed fighter as if, not to treat the attacking fighter as if the webbed fighter is SI.

Both arguments are reasonable.

Until some game designer at GW decides to come down one way or another, there is no official ruling, and both arguments have some decent grounding. As such, it seems a call for each group to make, whether a casual playgroup or an organized event. As usual, consistency seems the most important bit.

By that, if a free action doesnt count as one of your actions, you can only perform one action in addition to the free action, becase they didn't count as doing an action, but actually did.

Recovering from being webbed (rolling a flesh wound) does apply the flesh wound result:

While a fighter is Webbed, treat them as if they were Seriously Injured and roll for recovery for them during the End phase (Web contains a powerful sedative capable of rendering the strongest fighter unconscious). If a Flesh Would result is rolled during Recovery, apply the result to the fighter as usual and remove the Webbed condition. If a Serous Injury result is rolled, the fighter remains Webbed, but they do not gain a Flesh Wound. If an Out of Action result is rolled, the fighter succumbs to the powerful sedative and is removed from play, instead of rolling on the Lasting injury table, roll a D6 to determine what happens to them--on a result of 1-4 suffer the 15-26 (Out Cold) result, on a 5-6 they suffer the 55-56 (Captured) result (see page 127).

A fighter that is Webbed at the end of the battle does not succumb to their Injuries and will automatically recover.

Core Rulebook page 69 (nice)
note: page 127 will redirect you to page 143.

I have an additional question closely related to that XP one.
Is there anywhere stated that the attacker cannot coup de grace the webbed, and therefore treated as SI, oppenent?
That applies especially to close combat attacks with the web trait.

Thanks 🙂
I also understand it like this and there was so far no arguing about it in my player group. But there was also never the situation by now. 😉Its always good to have a neutral opinion about such things.
