I'm not going, but I'm curious to see how people would construct their gang rosters.

Lists are 1250 pts, with up to 3 Champions, 2 Ganger Specialists, 1 Brute, 1 Bounty Hunter and 3 Hive Scum. No Hangers On permitted. Gangs are 6-15 members, with at least 50% having the Gang Fighter rule. In addition to starting skills for Leaders and Champions, you may distribute 5 primary skills to your gang, with each skill being given to a different gang member. Ie, Leaders and Champs may have a max of 2 skills, Specialists and Juves a max of 1 skill. Additionally, you may distribute a single advance to 2 models.
Starting Juve weapon credit limits are ignored and you can spend up to a total of 40 rarity at the Trading Post to equip your gang.
Tactics cards will not be used. And Resurrection Format will be in effect (gangs will be reset after every match).

What would your ideal WAAC look like?

WAAC?

Van Saar leader and 3 champions with plasma guns, mesh and underlays with dual shooting skills, backed by a gunline of hotshot lasgun teks with the odd smoke here or there
Just to improve your list, archaeoteks instead of augmeks with Weaponsmith and plasma guns from tp then an extra skill of shooting. Give them alpha ocular for free and boom you just paid 15 credits for a non scarce plasma gun with an infra sight

You could drop grenades and downgrade the two specialists to subteks to be able to afford suspensors for the lascannon.

On skills, I don't really play Van Saar so don't know the optimal choices, and I was a little confused by the skill rule, I assumed that it meant you could assign the primary skill you wanted on creation of a leader/champion as normal, and then could issue 5 primary skills, which had to be different, across your gang.

I also haven't factored in the two improvements, either movement for your hip shooting champion or BS on the two specialists would make sense

Edit: I didn't take forward the Archeotek suggestion, mainly because they don't start with Plasma Guns on their starting list and I could be bothered to dredge out my GotU book to see what weapons were below the upper rarity limit. However I acknowledge its absolutely viable and if plasma guns are permitted, probably the optimal choice for the free augments

Plasma Guns are Rare (9) so you can get 4 of them within your Rarity limit.

I don't think plasma guns are cost effective enough to compete in an all WAAC tournament. With 40 rarity to spare, you could get 5 grenade launchers into the gang, even as Van Saar.

Here are a few concepts that could be viable:
- Van Saar GL spam
- Van Saar double Lascannon with GL support
- Goliaths gene-smithed for maximum survivability (doc's experiment and scar tissue), either armed with GL spam or a heavy bolter with GL support

I went VS, too. No Lascannons or Plasma Guns, though. It shows as 1270 credits because Underhive Tools doesn't give the 50% discount on Cyberteknika for the Archeotek; the list is actually 1245 credits.

Prime w/ Lasgun, Mesh Armor, Overseer and Munitioneer.

Augmek w/ Grenade Launcher, Mesh Armor, Hip Shooting and Munitioneer.

Archeotek w/ Boltgun, Mesh Armor, Alpha Ocular, Gageteer, Weaponsmith (for a Plentiful, RF2 Boltgun) and +1 T


Arachni Rig Servosuit Brute, Twin-Linked Heavy Las Carbine, Light Carapace Armor, +1 BS.

Tek Specialist w/ Grenade Launcher, Photon Flash Grenades, Mesh Armor.

Neotek w/ Lasgun, Mesh Armor, Incendiary Charges and Sprint
Neotek w/ Lasgun, Mesh Armor and Sprint

X2 Subteks w/ Lasguns

Yeah, 1250 pts really isn't that much more than 1000pts. The key building exploits are TP access for gang creation and the extra skills. I think that just about any WAAC gang created under these rules is going to include Boltguns and Grenade Launchers.

I believe all gangs are allowed, not only that but you can choose between N18 House gangs and N20-N21 House gangs (no mixing though). Interestingly, N21 Hive War House gangs are the only ones not allowed.

Specialists can only take weapons on their Equipment List, and the Grenade Launcher is not there.

Depending on how the scenarios work, I might be tempted to do a 15man Cawdor list if the extra bodies you can pull in are worth it (i.e. if the scenarios let you use your whole gang regardless, then it's not worth it) and abuse the custom Path of Faith to build a degenerate set of Acts and parking a couple of naked Juves to spam Beseech for Faith dice. Shame the Preacher is Outlaw-only, so you'd have to use Redemptionist Gangers and not blunderpole Gangers.

With Cawdor, using "And in His Light were they struck blind" to make you immune to shooting (except blasts) as you advance could possibly be a viable tactic. It neuters shooty gangs pretty hard.
