What's on your mind?

But also less pressure to have brilliantly posed and kit bashed minis, generally not comparing skills as much. And more was left to the imagination. Last time he was Max Steinmauer, the leader's right hand man with a smoking problem. This time the same mini is now the Drock McBlockhead, the bouncer who just got taken on. It kind of felt more creative, know what I mean?

I am craving single pose minis and musing about ways in which they were better.

Do you mean single pose or single piece? A lot of current GW minis have multiple pieces but only designed to go together one way, so they are really single pose (without conversion).

Single piece (or where shields and heads could be exchanged, but that's all). Boy I hate multi part single pose minis. Like what's the point! But that's a topic for the sump.

Honestly, I've really enjoyed every single miniature I've brought from Foundry - they're pretty much always a single metal casting* and I find (as I said before) I can paint them up super quickly compared to the multi-multi part kits you often get now.

I think the worst kits ever were the GW plastic ones that had heavy metal arms. Awful design choice. GW's multi-part metals were always a mixed bag too. Some were super simple and others were an absolute nightmare of pinning and super strong glue.

*My Normans have extra shields.

Betting 90% still gets quietly thrown away... The plant I work at finally gave up on recycling extremely pure *titanium* and that stuff is expensive...

Or worse. There’s a couple of Yaks who are long haulers thanks to Covid.
I took the double shot from Moderna. Pain for 2 full years, just now wearing off. Pretty much incapacitated. Now tried to recondition my 62 year old body. Biggest mistake I ever made.

Getting old eyes and trying to paint like you did 20 years ago sucks….
Whipping off the glasses, putting them on again, squinting, trying not to admit that the eye doctor was probably right to suggest bifocals at the last exam. I've had glasses and been nearsighted since about age 10 but the situation is definitely deteriorating with age and I can relate.

I’ve brought some magnifiers recently, it’s kinda nice to be able to get the models up close again like I used to do. I don’t like painting far away, I like painting up close to my face and it’s a choice of looking over the top of my glasses and closing one eye so I can use the one that’s super good at close detail - or use the magnifiers and actually have depth perception again.

A couple of years ago, I reached that point too @MusingWarboss - was just about painting miniatures from two feet away! I picked up some cheap reading glasses, and they have been fantastic... Would definitely recommend them to those whose eyes have a little more "experience!"
