What's on your mind?

There's a set of old Citadel Journal GSC fanboy rules for original Necromunda that, if you game them a bit, can quite easily get you a pure strain genestealer on the table.

Incredibly fast, incredibly vicious, incredibly tough - will reliably dismantle any ganger or leader in close combat and you'll probably never get a chance to shoot at it if the table has a decent level of terrain. And of course, the rest of the GSC gang to back it up as well - wyrd powers ect up the wazoo. Fun for a one-off scenario, but if you're playing in a campaign and someone has one, it all stops being amusing quite quickly. They take balance and dropkick it out of an upper spire window.

Can you hazard a guess what a player brought to TribeMeet 2017...?

Random question that I think would make a useful discussion...

How do you make yourself accountable to finish projects?
Everyone knows you have to just keep starting new projects until you forget about the old, at which point they are ‘finished’!
Here's a thought i've been having recently, I really love the Genestealers since the old days, where I saw 2 of them tear apart a terminator squad of 5. Back when terminator armour only was rolled with 2d6s and both needed to roll 1s to fail.

I am saddened that there doesn't seem to be a reliable and easy way to get actual Genestealers into a game of necromunda. SO i've been thinking of using the genestealr cult gang rules on corpse grinders, how would people feel about proxying a broodlord and genestealers for there leader and champions, then using the rest as standard genestealer cultists?

Or is this just a recipe for sadness because the cult rules dont work well with corpse grinders or whatnot?
Don’t know the rules for corpse grinders but I really like the concept! From what I gather, they are scary, ripper blade welding, close combat monsters? Which sounds about perfect! Then if you have some brood brothers filling out the ranks, then it makes sense for the between game stuff too!

*insert traumatic flashback to TribeMeet 2017 here*
I nearly killed that alien! …at least one of my minions did, anyway!:

Able Seaman 002 was charged, and used hurl opponent, which actually worked!?! ( it was obviously a Spartan kick) Then shot it with a close range bolter round, it wounded the single wound creature, the strength 4 forcing a -1 save, it had to roll a 6 to live. ….Which it totally did….

Able Seaman 002 was promoted for his actions that day, however, and became a medic somehow!?

It makes sense to use a proxy gang. It has already been 'balanced'. Although you will likely be making choices based off theme rather than practicality, making you less competitive in the campaign.

The counter arguement is that it loses flavour specific to a GSC. Such as its desire to infiltrate society or a natural growth. And some random elements might be jarring. Like above when someone learns to be a medic from their awesome combat prowess.

You have a solid idea. It's just if they are similar enough for you?

You can port them from Old Necromunda (SWA)

Learned about the Old Gods of Appalachia podcast while watching someones GenCon haul where they picked up the recently Kickstarted RPG for the setting. Listened to a few episodes last night and it's some good story telling.

How do you make yourself accountable to finish projects?

I don't. It's a hobby, not a chore. I do what I feel like, rather than forcing myself to do things I don't want to.

Not the main point (others have covered that) but, if you're talking 2nd edition, then they would have had some save modifier there, so it wouldn't be 3+.

How do you make yourself accountable to finish projects?
I leave all my started projects spread out on my desk so I can't possibly start something new because there's no space to do it. Of course then I move them to the shelf above my desk and start something new anyway. Its not a perfect system.

A thought I had in connection to my question is about accountability partners. Then I remembered the FYSC. But basically someone who would call you out for not completing projects in a timely fashion.

I wish I could get projects done more often but since it is a hobby I feel like I can't justify the time spent on it, and that since no one expects it finished then it is unimportant to work on it instead of collapsing in front of the TV.

Do you think there is value in finding someone who will call you out?

I'm sure it could help some people with an accountability partner. And if you can find a like-minded soul, no reason not to team up! Maybe a partnering-up thread is an idea?

I am on roughly the same wavelength as @Ben_S, I think. It's a hobby, if I don't want to finish a project I shouldn't have to. And if it begins feeling like a chore, I'm pretty sure I'll lose all motivation.

So "what's on my mind" right now is how great my friends are. Went over this afternoon for a game of Armada (Star Wars) at a friend's. They had all gotten together and bought me a $250 gift card from GW for my birthday (later this month) so that I can get the Legio Imperialis starter when it comes out. I don't have many friends, but the ones I have are the best!

The fashion cycle is about 30 years, give or take. So yeah, lots of 80s and 90s stuff coming back again.
True. I wonder if there’s a hint of 50s/60s influence, given that the 80s/90s took some inspiration from those decades too.

So there these things called “Necromunda Apocrypha”…. Are these official rules releases or what?

If they’re official, will they be collected in an Apocrypha Compliation?
