What's on your mind?

You aware of A War Transformed?

North Star have a release promo on for it, WW1 with magic. Weird cross between skirmish and army-level combat ("platoon level"?), haven't looked too hard at it other than what I've seen from North Star but might be an interesting game (if I didn't already have umpteen other systems lying around unplayed).
Osprey has emailed about the release of A War Transformed rules.

Did you know the forum has options to crunch down the size of your images before you uploaded them and ran out of space?? I didn’t and I’ve been here for years!!

Seems like the option was a little hidden away but I've just discovered it!! Perhaps it was common knowledge??

Seems like at one point it did it automatically, now you probably have to select size yourself.

EDIT: though this may be a perk of iOS, we need some Android types to see if that does the same.

Anyway I posted about it here:
Post in thread 'Gallery space exceeded. What now?'

Got close to my gallery space filling up, been looking at ways to crunch files down before upload on the phone. Now I don’t even need an external app unless I want to do some specific edits.

can photos be deleted from an album?
Yes, select the photo you want to get rid of and click the bin icon under it. You'll have to give a confirmation reason as to why you want it delete (for safety and security), then its gone.

Bare in mind that any links you made to that image from the gallery in the forum will just have a blank link there instead.

So you can certainly free up space by deleting old stuff you don't want anymore or isn't relevant. If you re-upload a smaller sized version then you'll have to re-add the images into the relevant posts and you'll lose any likes or comments on the original.

Come across this today, when I was 9 I thought this was so cool!:

In my early days of visiting GW, all the big boys had the official black cases with various scrawlings and symbols, showing their allegiances!
My repurposed Lego box from 30 oddish years ago demonstrates my love for green skins of the Blood axe variety (still held today) and shows my support for the all goblin Blood bowl team (that didn’t exist beyond owning nobbla black wart and fungus the loon) The Crooked Moon Killers!

DI'd it still contain the WHQuest minis?

So my day at Spiel. There are tons of wannabe game designers out there. As the one and only stall selling generic tokens was the whole time full of customers. I wanted to look for something for my wife for using to teach using simplistic games. But couldn't even get a proper look.

Definitely go there in a group of 2 to 4, ideally 3, so that you get taken seriously by the demonstrators. They were eager to tell me about the game but not to demonstrate it.

A suitcase and cash. You might get extra or a slight discount but expect to pay roughly 50€ a game. Also if you are like me and look around before settling on what to buy, take a notebook to write down where the stalls are.

I thought I would have fun talking to g as me makes in the prototype section but I was struggling to hear, never mind having an informative chat with them. If you were thinking of presenting a prototype then go to a convention first. The ones with quality presentations and attractive boards were getting all the attention. Those with laminated paper cards was looking rather desperate.

I wonder if it would be beneficial for would be game designers to get help from the likes of wargames like us to get 3d boards? I spoke to one and I liked how it was multilayered but it looked like blocks on a paper, not the dilapidated space craft it was representing.

The game I liked the most but didn't get was a game about fantasy creatures playing basketball. It was described as a game that simulates the feel of basketball, rather than a fantasy based fight up that includes a ball (my interpretation of what was said).

Interesting, though my uninformed cynical take on that would be that they probably made a great basketball game but couldn’t get any traction so put fantasy creatures in to get attention.

That was my thought, but it looks like an awesome basketball game. I can't blame them. If I saw pictures of actual players I wouldn't have noticed. And someone really into basketball wouldn't have been there to notice.

On that note I did just include a hockey themed raider gang in out Fallout tabletop rpg sessions. Given the Boston setting of the Commonwealth it was a natural fit. The Slappystick Gang weren't much of a challenge but they definitely made an impression.

Reminds me of The Baseball Furies from The Warriors [1979]. Haven't thot 'bout that movie in awhile.

How was the Fallout RPG btw? back in the day we only had Gamma World and Aftermath!

I'd like to say that was my inspiration but really I was just riffing on Fallout 4's presentation of baseball. There's a storefront NPC who sells uniforms and bats and who describes baseball as a game where the teams would run out on the field and beat each other to death with their "swatters". Obviously hockey needed a similar treatment.

The rpg is really good in my opinion. It uses the Modiphius 2d20 system as a base and is very faithful to the video games. We are five sessions in, the players have just hit level three and we are having a blast. One complaint for some is the game sticks very closely to the Boston setting from Fallout 4, but enough information is there that you could easily set your game anywhere else in the Fallout world if you wanted to do the work. My worry is that, like the video games, things may fall apart at higher levels but I don't see any evidence of that yet. There's a free quickstart on the Modiphius site that gives you most of the rules and a decent starter adventure.

Hey guys, I did a battle report of sorts for the UFO wars thread and trying out a style. If anyone could give me some feedback of how I could improve or make clearer for future battle reports them I would appreciate it.
