What's on your mind?

European Master Systems are bloody weird looking, but it's definitely stylish. Hardware is soooo much better than the NES as well.
That one is the Master System II. It’s the cheaper one from around 1990, after the 1989 Mega Drive (Genesis) was released.
The case design has been used even up to relatively recently in Brazil!! I was surprised that the SMS was still popular there.

The longer flat one was the first edition and based on the Japanese Sega Mark III.

I was trying to collect the varients at one point but even then the cost was pretty high. I’d hate to even tried collecting the NES/Famicom!!

I blame YouTubers and their nostalgia generating videos. Grrr.

@spafe has some LGT 2019 threads to his name. Wow, the years fly by, don't they?
I just saw a request in a FB Necromunda group that LGT is looking for someone to run Necromunda events. It wasn’t a sharable post, though. Didn’t someone here in the tribe do this a few years ago?

I did indeed run this for them for a couple of years. Zac approached the tribe/ @Malo and asked for help/partnership. It worked well enough, although overall wasn't really worth it for the tribe, so we stepped back.

Was a good laugh though, if anyone is tempted from here to take em up on it then I'm happy to offer advice etc (drop me a pm).

I've kinda got burnt out on necro the last few years. Newmunda has so much potential but gw drop the ball so much I'm having to step back a little from it. Our gaming group has gone similar and we are looking at 4th ed 40k, old world and 28mm inq this year so definitely won't be throwing my hat in the ring for running it this year.

I feel that on Necromunda.

I’ve basically stopped playing it now except for the occasional game in a casual narrative campaign with 3 other people.

I just don’t have the energy and intestinal fortitude to read through the new books since Ash Wastes dropped, let alone try and tangle a dozen people through a 7 week campaign.

On the other hand I am now running 4 Bloodbowl tournaments a year plus have just kicked off a bloodbowl league in my city and will be travelling to a few more interstate tournaments this year.

Hopefully I can solidify my 2023 Major win into being the number 1 ranked orc coach in Australia, though it’s more likely that I’ll just fade back into mediocrity.

I know it's not as useful as a 3d printer, but would something like this be useful for anything hobby-related?

My wife bought me a 3d pen a few years back. It creates a terrible finish. I wouldn't recommend for miniature wargames. Perhaps only for meaty, tentacle body horror stuff.

Before they were famous?
Of course.
After the dissapointing second album 'Gots my tentacle love deep inside ya' , their tentacle themed 'rastabilly skank with slap base undertones' style of music was over.
If anone has information as to the whereabouts of lead singer Jonny Squidhead , the reward is still being offered by the Danish Royal family after what the newspapers of the time would only refer to as 'an unpleasant inscident'

Random thought. So there are classic slow zombies, fast virus zombies, fungus zombies,...

I was thinking to myself that the Borg from Star Trek are a cool take on space zombies (the thought that got me going).

Anyone know any other styles of zombie? Or have their own original design?

Smombies.

Plague zombies (typical slow), neuron zombies (Necromundan zombies), risen zombies (necromancy), differently biotic zombies (generation dead series by Daniel Waters), protagonist anime zombies (risen zombies, but with original souls/memories)

I haven't tried the latest GW washes yet. (I bought a stockpile just before they reformulated them a while ago, because I wanted to be sure of consistency.)

Are there better options now for an 'all-over' shade? (For clarity, I'm talking about options within the GW range, rather than alternative manufacturers.)

I mostly use Reikland Fleshshade in preference to Agrax Earthshade, though the latter works fine too. But I know there were some new colours added when they revamped the range, so I'm wondering whether there's anything else that I should check out, now that I'm thinking of buying shades again.

This could be interesting. It seems to be a new (I'm guessing) more streamlined Fallout skirmish game from Modiphius with plastic minis on sprues and written by James Hewitt who did the first Underhive ruleset for new Necromunda. I thought Underhive was pretty decent given the constraints he talked about after leaving GW/FW so I'm curious to see what he does here. I haven't played their other Fallout skirmish game but I picked up some of the resin mini for fun and I was impressed by the quality. I expect I'll wait until it's out in the world and slightly cheaper from online retailers but I'm definitely going to keep an eye on it.

Interesting turn of events (no pun intended). I wonder if any of the events they have planned will have the various mini/book reveals. The pessimist in me wonders if they aren't doing Warhammer Fest '24 because they think no-one is interested in it, or rather because they want to ignore the possibility they could have done, and could do, better than they did last year. Hopefully it's more of a "palette cleanser" and they'll be back to doing a Fest, which is more hobbyist friendly, as opposed to doubling down on the tournament crowd focused tournament circuits, in '25.
