What's on your mind?

Well, I’d say you’re going to have to pin the model through the MDF and into the base itself.

Then used thin superglue to attach the feet to the base and then under the base a few drops there+baking soda to weld them in place.

Be sparing with the superglue so it doesn’t squelch out everywhere, the majority of the gluing and fixing should be underneath the base.
I just came back from my evening stroll and wondered about it. You have to remove the horizontal bar and pin the model on two ends with the stumpy rests beneath the soles. No other way to do it.

Pretty much. I based some of my old metal Munda models on MDF toppers, and though I never used baking soda, I did use long pins and two applications of superglue, unpainted MDF tends to slurp that stuff up.

One more thing. I wondered what kind of paint job they will get and one of the Aleph models is riding a bike like in Tron. So it´s going to be a Tron colour scheme. However I want to do yellow instead of blue. Is it possible to paint the rider´s skin also in some shade of yellow without it looking bad? It works in blue as the following pic proves:

I’d think so, depending on your skill level.

Easiest way would be some kind of Zenithal highlight then a glaze of imperial fist contrast (or similar) over the top.

Depends how bright you want the yellow. Or if you want the shadows to be orange, or brown.

That´s looking very good. I used in the past pink as a base for yellow when doing test minis for my Horus Heresy army. The yellow lines on the attire/armour would need to be very bright and the skin more of a subdued hue of yellow.

I’m sure that’s achievable. You could also use some neon yellow paint for the lines to give them an extra Tron boost.

This guy does a reasonable explanation of gnomes in the old world if you are interested in them.

Gnomes are related to dwarfs where halflings are related to humans in Warhammer lore.

Also worth noting that gnomes have previously existed in bloodbowl as part of the Forest Folk team in 3rd editions Blood Bowl Compendium 1, where they played as positionals alongside centaurs, satyrs and freemen, and they could ride the centaurs.

Oh! Right! I forgot entirely about their presence in Blood Bowl 3rd's Forest Folk!
Hmm. The Underworlds team of forest elves (a centaur and several satyrs, really) combined with these gnomes could also then make for a solid Forest Folk team. Time to break out Journal #17, and have a look again.

That was informative. So they were added very early as generic fantasy things, but as GW became focused on selling their own minis the gnomes were left out as they didn’t fit into the armies.

Then they have made a resurgence in a limited capacity as GW expand the types of media. But lore-wise they are to few to make an army and uninterested in the greater conflicts. So they can only be used in games with a low model count, as an illusion spell caster or perhaps as an empire magically enhanced assassin unit.

They got excluded for business reasons and then justified by nids ate em. Except this time it was Grom the Paunch.

@Biggle_Bear pretty much. Though the guy also mentions that they also get forced underground by the High Elves helping to establish the schools of magic in the empire and essentially banning shadow magic, which is what the gnomes use.

He also makes a great point that there is/was plenty of space in the old world for all sorts of fantasy races to come from. It’s really a shame that they decided to blow it up just to end the story.

Maybe the community complained that "nothing ever changes in the lore anyway" one too many times. :censored:
No. They blew it up because geezers like me couldn´t be arsed to collect an entire new WHFB army every year. Or buy a new super-duper, large model for your faction which clashes with the entire design aesthetic of their army.

In a nutshell: Gee-Dubbs suits thought they were dealing with players with a 40K mentality and were forced in the end to show their shocked Pikachu faces when it was apparent that the folks who owned WHFB armies consisted of conservative grognards like me.

The heads of the community are on fire. Why? Gee-Dubbs wants to check boxes and revealed in the upcoming Custodes codex that there are now female Custodes. A thread dedicated to this topic has already been locked at Bolter & Chainsword. LOL!

As someone with no strong opinion either way, I'll avoid the usual channels for a while I think.

Edit: Whoops, no, I do have a thing about Custodes, but not about that thing I don't care about.

The new Custodes Codex is out, and even with my limited rules knowledge I can safely agree with those who say it sucks bad. For Custodes, not for the rest of us.

Now, I'm a little gremlin and can't help but smirk a bit, because I did always think Custodes needed to be taken back a bit, as it seems everyone and their dog Tonto played them. And I mean, I can see why.

Low model count, look really good with just drybrushing and some washes, and they SLAPPED hard for most of 8th and 9th.

That having been said, burying them like this in 10th was too much, and while I love that I'll be seeing less of the golden boys (seriously, I was at the FLG and out if six 40k players, I was the only non-Custodes) I feel for people with 2000+ points armies, painting a whole 10 models only to see the army sniped like that must suck.

Ten new rust bot shave been added. The clankers are doing a victory march and if you can point out who is new you will win as many washing machines as you can carry:

I will probably finish the remaining bots from the 9th 40K Command and Recruit boxes over the span of the next days. Then I will build terrain again:
Junk Town where all the bots live. I have accumulated enough garbage to make this a very cheap and easy task.

I just bought an antivirus software program. Back in the day you put in the activation code and you were good to go. Not so however in our BRAVE NEW WORLD! The greedy bastards demand detailed bank information so that they can sell me the same protection for the next year for the triple price, if I am careless enough to not cancel it in time. And now they need a security code for the debit card. Funny thing is this code is not printed on my card. This means I can´t activate my purchase and the 25 Euro I spent today are down the drain. JESUS CHRIST!

Now I have to contact my bank and ask them for that bloody security code. Hope my laptop survives long enough before it becomes invested with all kinds of viruses.

Yes, that sucks. I haven’t personally used one since 2012 - that’s mostly because I moved over to Linux and there’s so few things that infect it.

Most web browsers these days have adaptive danger alerts for dodgy stuff as do email programs (especially online).

We used to have a saying in the late 90s “be careful where you stick your disk” - I just don’t share removable media between unknown computers these days so that’s not too much of an issue.

As everything is online that is your most likely point of infection, if you can avoid downloading unknown or dodgy stuff, particularly outside of a major browser or email client, then you should be relatively safe. Obviously don’t visit dodgy sites too!!

I think phishing scams and the like are more likely to catch people out these days than the traditional virus or malware.

Also run an adblocker, those have been known to be hacked and to drop crap on your computer too.

All the antivirus software I remember from my Windows days just bogged down the PC and we’re almost impossible to shift off you swapped to another one.

Plus everything is becoming a damn subscription service now - not convenient for everyone. I missed the days when you could just buy something once and you were done.

I honestly think the best thing people could do these days is just to not run Windows.
